About this deal

Just ensure you get the right ear tips in, or else you’ll be unhappy when they fall out in the middle of the street. As such, unless a core part of the experience, I will not be testing any software supplied by Anker for these earbuds.

Even though the Anker Life P2i by Soundcore has actual buttons, it has the same control scheme as the latest touch-controlled offerings from the brand. That means all important controls are within reach: Although not all of their headphones support this codec, a couple of their latest headphones, like the Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro Truly Wireless, support LDAC, designed for Hi-Res audio. Support for this codec is also uncommon in truly wireless headphones. The audio transition between the two earbuds also works within the expectations with “On Her Majesties Secret Service” by The Propellerheads (and the Shaken and Stirred album is a good starter for those who want to explore how David Arnold got into the Bond music stream). As usual, your mileage will vary with the joy of Bluetooth. On the few calls I tested with people (both video and voice), the audio quality was clear enough to be understandable to the person on the other end of the line, Good enough for the price. And no software too. Depending on your trust levels, basic Bluetooth (even Bluetooth 5.2) shouldn’t present too many issues on this front. If you want your set to be pristine, consider a cover for them – but at this bargain basement price… is it worth it? My numbers are rough, but they scream “no” to me. Controls The only thing missing from the controls is activating the voice assistant. The responsiveness from the button is great, and you don't push the earbuds into your ears every time you operate it.

The sound quality changes the game here for both earbuds. Soundcore Life P2 mini here has a better sound profile being a little pricier. It doesn’t have the same amount of bass as some of its other siblings, but it still provides a pleasant, warm, and bassy sound that becomes even better as the volume is increased. They do not have ANC but have a clear sufficient amount of noise. If we talk of clarity and accuracy, these are even more accurate and do not pretend like entry-level earbuds. These comfortable and well-built buds have a warm sound profile out of the box, but you can fine-tune their sound to suit your tastes using their companion app's graphic EQ and presets. You can also use the app to switch to LDAC codec to stream Hi-Res content. That said, their mic has poor recording quality. The mic captures speech that sounds far away and sibilant, which can be a dealbreaker if you take a lot of calls. However, if you're just looking to listen to music, these wallet-friendly earbuds are worth a look. IPX5-Rated: A water-resistant rating of IPX5 means these earbuds can withstand sweat, rain, and water splashes from any direction. Has Anker managed to make a human-manageable control schema for these Soundcore Life P2i earbuds? With two buttons, I can answer that with a simple “nope”. While wireless earbuds with actual buttons are becoming rarer and rarer. Soundcore Life P2i attaches a medium-length stem to oval earpieces, which are comfortable and it snugly. The earbuds and the case are rated IPX5 for water and dust resistance. Here we judge durability as the perfect and sturdy for the case and earbuds. These have a single LED light which can not be considered the battery life indicator.

Customer Reviews

The sound performance is typical for the brand. The Soundcore P20i leans heavily on the bass and lower mid-tones. The bass power mostly comes from the mid-bass, which is powerful and punchy, but can at times rumble a bit too loosely or be a bit overbearing in songs already pushing the bass out of itself. Lower mid-tones are strong too, with hefty darker electronic tones and even some texture in bass guitars. The carrying case is light too, and charges with the superior USB-C standard – a nice touch that we don’t always get at this price point. It houses a large battery which, with combined charging and usage on the go, enables up to 40 hours of use away from the charger. While using the buds for a standard commute across one week, we found that we never needed to recharge the case itself, having more than enough juice to top-up the buds every couple of days. Thumping Beats: Life P2i true wireless earbuds are capable of producing some punchy beats thanks to their 10mm oversized drivers.

And if you love bass, you’ll love them. If you have any other tastes, expect the mids and highs to suffer, especially when you try to drive them at higher volumes. However, there’s a lot to like. It will depend on how much you are to trust Anker and its data-handling policy.

Lineup

Well, that's a question I still can't quite answer. The specs are a bit better, that's a start. The P20i - also named the Soundcore R50i in India - now has Bluetooth 5.3 and plays up to 10 hours of music on a single charge (!); that's up to two hours more than the previously mentioned earbuds. It also recharges faster: 10 minutes of recharging in the case makes for two hours of extra listening time, instead of the single hour of previous models. Moving on to Keiino’s “Spirit in the Sky”. Again, whilst the mids and base are wonderfully driven, the trebles (especially Alexandra’s vocals), can be a little tinny when driving the earbuds at higher volumes. At lower human-listenable volumes, it is fine enough. Design and comfort: 3.5/5 - Comfortable, even though you can always feel the round tips in your ears• Both of these have two EQ presets which are great but you would prefer editing the sound EQs through the Soundcore app. You can always have a bad situation, but be open about it (something airlines are notoriously bad about) and show the steps you’re taking to resolve the issue. However, Anker and Eufy’s behaviour has been less than open – to put it mildly.

Things like walls will get in the way of the signal – so be warned – if you need your audio continuous, ensure the device you use is within grabbing distance. Audio tests Sadly, on the box, there’s no way to tell the battery level – there’s just one LED on it. Thankfully, most phone software should be able to work out the battery level of a Bluetooth device. You can customize their sound using their companion app's graphic EQ and presets. Like their truly wireless counterpart, the Anker Soundcore Space A40 Truly Wireless, they even support LDAC codec, making them a solid choice for Hi-Res audio content. They offer multi-device and NFC pairing, so connecting them to your smartphone or laptop is easy. Most Anker headphones are compatible with the Anker Soundcore app, which offers a graphic EQ and presets so you can adjust your headphones' sound to your liking. You can also remap controls and adjust the active noise cancelling (ANC) level to suit your needs. There are plenty of true wireless earbuds out there these days, flooding every price point, from budget buds to high-end portable audio – as established players and newcomers alike try to make a name for themselves in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Onto Crab Rave by Noisestorm– as there is a law that every tech review has to use it, and the results we got in Corcovado are mirrored here, with a thumpy base, but instruments at the top of the earphone range can be a little tinny. Recent headphones from this manufacturer have an adjustable noise cancelling system that offers excellent overall performance. Their noise isolation performance nearly rivals high-end brands like Bose and Sony.
