About this deal

A: No, the brush does not have any suction function. We have designed the machine this way to prevent any sand from being removed from the surface of your fake lawn. The machine is also fully height adjustable, so you can make sure it only brushes the top of the grass fibres rather than the base. You can choose from 4 different working depths for working at different times of the year, and also included is a simple, yet decent grass collection box.
This product comes with a 10 metre long power cord and should be long enough for most gardens. Pros: Assembly Ease: The first test I conducted was how easy each scarifier was to assemble. Scarifiers that took me 30 minutes or more to assemble were marked down, as these would likely take the average gardener a long time to put together. Models with minimal assembly requirements that took 15 minutes or less to assemble and had detailed instructions were rated high in terms of assembly ease.

One thing to bear in mind, however, is that a wider width tends to mean a bigger machine. Which also generally results in a heavier machine. You’ll just need to weigh up the pros and cons of width vs. weight and see which model best fits your needs. Finding a comfortable lawn scarifier

The 10 best lawn scarifiers to buy today

For total control over your lawn maintenance, choose from 5 adjustable working depths on your electric aerator: -12/-9/-6/-3/+6mm. By it’s very nature a scarifier is used once or twice a year. I bought this in February 2017. It’s great when it works however the motor burnt out on its fourth outing and on further investigation this is a common problem. Maintaining a pristine artificial lawn has never been easier, thanks to our powerful 1800W Artificial Grass Brush. We know that even though artificial grass is low maintenance, pesky leaves, twigs, and debris always find their way onto your lawn. But fret not, because our nifty artificial grass brush is here to save the day! The ultimate artificial grass brush But what bugged me was the collector. Perhaps I was having a dozy day but the frame (which way round it should go) took me a good few minutes to decipher. The user manual might want to work on that. My opinion of this AL-KO lawn rake and scarifier kept improving after I started scarifying my mossy lawn. It didn’t take long for the machine to pull all of the moss and thatch out, and its large 1500W engine prevented it from overheating when it was used for longer stretches.

In my mission to find the best lawn scarifiers to remove moss and thatch, I tested some of the best models on their assembly ease, design, performance, ease of use, noise, safety, and value for money. Here are the tests I conducted: The Bosch scarifier also comes with a collection box, rather than a bag. Not only was this hard, plastic box much more robust than the fabric bags that most other scarifiers come with, but, at 50 litres, it was almost double the size too. The large collection box saves you from having to stop to empty quite as often. A raker simply combs through the grass, use it like a mower. Your lawn will look great and improved after a few days. If you have a lawn, and you want it to be healthy, then you really should be using a scarifier or lawn rake from time to time and then get busy with a lawn aerator (or save time and buy a 2 in 1 like the VonHaus).
Scarifiers, also known as de-thatchers, remove grass cuttings, moss and other garden debris, by cutting into the soil and sifting your grass with blades. This action also helps to keep the soil free of weeds and healthy by improving the circulation of air and water drainage. When scarifying is ignored, the debris known as ‘thatch’ can form and cause a variety of problems for your lawn, such as making it seem ‘spongy’ or not draining water properly ( waterlogging). Dead thatch removed by a lawn rake scarifierThis lawn rake is another fine product worthy of the name.
First of all, it has an extremely compact and light weight design with dimensions of 24 x 50 x 50 cm, and tipping the scales at only 7kg.
Despite this, the raker feels robust and has a decent amount of power thanks to the 600W motor. I tell you right off the bat I really do think this is the best for budget in the UK but it’s not without flaws. When using the deepest setting I get the feeling it rides up a bit creating a cut in the lawn that isn’t quite as deep as intended. This is fine if you pass over multiple times but remember the process is pretty brutal on a lawn! Powered lawn rakers. These are ideal if you have a small or medium-sized garden. Choose from corded, if you have a nearby power supply, or cordless. They feature a cylinder lined with sprung metal tines that’s capable of combing through the lawn and pulling out moss, thatch, and horizontal grass stalks. They also come with a collection box, so there’s no need to get out the mower or rake to gather up the cuttings. However, let’s start at the beginning – the grand unboxing. It’s always a bonus when garden tools need minimal assembly, and this scarifier definitely fell into that category. Assembly only took about 15 minutes. All that needed to be done was assemble the handles, clip the cables into place, and swap the aerating roller that was already inserted with the scarifying roller. Hyundai’s garden products are often priced higher than the competition, and this lawn scarifier is no exception. It may cost a little more, but, unlike many of the cheaper alternatives out there, this really is a machine that can effectively scarify and aerate – its 2-in-1 claim isn’t just a marketing ploy. With this 2 in 1 lawn scarifier, you can sweep away moss and thatch, dead grass and debris to prevent lawn diseases and improve soil drainage.

With our scarifiers, you'll breathe new life into your lawn, allowing it to thrive like never before. Say hello to a lawn that's not just green but radiantly alive. Lawnmower & Scarifier combo: The dynamic duo The VonHaus 2 in 1 Lawn Scarifier is a powerful 1800W lawn scarifier/rake that is durable, lightweight at just 15kg and comes with a dual purpose drum that allows you to switch between two interchangeable rollers with ease. It comes supplied with a 10 metre power cable and a large 55 litre collection bag. The handles on the VonHaus 2 in 1 Lawn Scarifier can be folded down and has a built in carry handle for easy storage. I found it easy to assemble with simple to follow but basic instructions, and it comes with a 2 year warranty for peace of mind. However, where this machine falls short is with its aerating function. Unlike the other aerators I’ve used, this one doesn’t seem to actually aerate. Instead, the aerator roller does pretty much the same thing as the scarifier, except it’s much more severe. Remember all of that healthy grass I just mentioned that the scarifier left intact? Well, the aerator pretty much destroyed it all. The Cobra cordless scarifier worked very well at removing the weeds and thatch – no question on thatThe Flymo lawnrake has been designed to be compact and the foldable handles help make it easy to store away. It measures 66 x 46.6 x 39 cm and weighs 12.3 kilograms.
The 12 metre cable length is longer than average and the extra few metres comes in handy. Scarifying (removing the dead moss and thatch) isn’t a deep action – it only needs to be deep enough to yank out the thatch. The GC-SA 1231/1 electric scarifier/aerator is an efficient and reliable combination tool that provides good service to gardeners who want to take good care of small to medium size lawns up to 300 m² through aerating and scarifying. Others like the fact that it’s quite easy to assemble, and lightweight (around 9kg) so that basically everyone can use it.

With its 32cm width, this machine is best-suited for small- to medium-sized gardens. That said, it could still handle a larger lawn too, it would just take longer than if you were to use a scarifier with a wider body (such as the AL-KO). The four scarifying depth settings make it even more versatile, and the fact that there’s just a single handle that you need to move to adjust the height definitely works in this product’s favour. Now to touch upon the product’s main flaw – its grass collection bag. At 45 litres, it’s an adequate size, but that’s where the praise ends. It feels quite flimsy, it’s awkward to insert and remove, and it doesn’t fill fully. However, many people don’t actually use a collection bag when scarifying, preferring instead to get the job done first before raking or mowing the discarded thatch up. If this is what you plan on doing, then the issues with the collection bag won’t really matter. Let's make mowing your lawn a pleasure, not a chore. Our lawnmowers are designed to give you that perfectly manicured look without the hassle.

Best electric scarifier

working width and 4 adjustable working depths let you select the type of finish you want on your lawn. Let’s start with assembly – something that I never really enjoy doing. This Hyundai needed a little more work than the other models I tested. Assembly took about 30 minutes in total. This isn’t a huge amount of time, but keep in mind that I have a fair bit of experience assembling scarifiers. For someone who has never done this before, it’ll likely take much longer, especially considering that the instruction manual was very little help.
