Based on their suggestions I assembled the following components for my workstation PC build: CPU: Intel i7-8700K Mainboard: MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon (today I would use the Fujitsu D3643-H instead, see below) RAM: 4 x Crucial DDR4 16 GB PC4-19200 non-ECC (64 GB in total) SSD 1: Samsung SSD 960 Pro M. Said chance is higher than that of total disk failure, which is already significant with current-day disk sizes. Multiple product codes can be mapped to one mother product code if the specifications are identical.

Supermicro's *SMALL* spec for a 24-bay chassis is the 920 watt dual module supply, which is not sufficient to guarantee brownout-free spinup when one of the PSU modules is removed.

Processor manufacturer: Intel, Processor socket: LGA 1151 (Socket H4), Compatible processor series: Intel® Celeron®, Intel® Core™ i3, Intel® Core™ i5, Intel® Core™ i7, Intel® Pentium®, Intel® Xeon®. So I switched it for an Corsair AX 860i which can handle 860W continuesly on a single rail AND the design is verified by external sources to be able to handle almost 1KW peak loads.

I'm not actually looking into discussing my current build or your numbers, but lets say I don't agree with about 50% of what you wrote. Moreover I want some upgrade option and I don't know if the hardware already configured by iXsystems is oversized for my NAS-only needs since it could cover virtualization and other services as well to target as many entry level consumers as possible. I do not have the equipment to measure noise emissions, but I can say that the machine is nearly completely silent.
