About this deal

A good intro on Warhammer TV explains how to paint the Eyes of the Nine, a Warhammer Underworld warband, ideal for inspiration. I did an Army Painter Strong Tone wash over the armor, weapon parts, and disc parts that were still silver, then based with sand and blue tufts from Gamers Grass. Tough to fill Battalions –Tzeentch has some powerful battalions but the books very married to the Number 9 being Tzeentch’s sacred number so many battalions require 9 units to fill.

The Enlightened are those Tzaangor who have finally caught the attention of Tzeentch in their quest for knowledge. While most who draw the eye of Tzeentch are turned into abominable Chaos Spawn , a few are gifted with arcane weapons, strange artefacts, and maybe even constant mental communion with Tzeentch himself. These Enlightened wield divining spears, fatecaster greatbows or simply the chainswords and autopistols they fought with in their earlier lives in battle. The Enlightened are the other half of the Skyfire box and can come in 2 variants: flying 10″ on a Disc of Tzeentch or on foot for 5” Movement.

Elite Tzaangors [1], those who have finally caught the attention of Tzeentch in their quest for knowledge [3], the Tzaangor Enlightened possess strange feathers, elaborate horns and are truly blessed with the favor of Tzeentch [1] sometimes even being in the constant mental communion with Tzeentch himself. [3] They wield ornate spears that set them above their lesser kin, some even riding upon Discs of Tzeentch. Tzaangor Enlightened can see strands of the past – foes cower in superstitious fear as the Enlightened give voice to events from their lives that no-one ought to have knowledge of. [1] The Tzaangors are the more bestial side of the Arcanites. They come in multiple forms but always avian in shape and their elite, Skyfires and Enlightened, can be found riding Discs of Tzeentch. Paint the Tzaangor Enlightened’s eyes with a bright color, such as Flash Gitz Yellow. Use a small brush and aim for a neat, centered dot. You can also add any additional details, such as symbols or patterns, using appropriate colors.

I think this is interesting – the beloved Chaos Spawn minis can now be battleline in a Gavespawn army. They remain largely the same from the previous tome, although now you can’t use the Gavespawn command ability to add +1A to units. They’re faster, at 3D6” instead of 2D6”, and they can run and charge, so they can shoot out and hit stuff further out. In a Gavespawn army, I think I’d rather just take the Morghurite Spawn. Morghurite Chaos SpawnUsing a lighter copper paint, such as Runelord Brass, add highlights to the metallic components. Focus on edges, corners, and any areas where light would naturally catch. This will enhance the metallic shine and add realism to the model. The distribution of points between the elite options and the infantry allows you to have a warband around 7 to 8 models, allowing to out-manoeuvre most other warbands.

I think most Beastlords want these guys to be good because they’re new models – us BoC don’t get them very often. They look sweet, too. The rules are definitely better than what they were, and they only go up a bit in points, so they might be worth a look. I like the ability to fight twice once per battle, I’m just worried that with the second fight having the strike-last effect, are they going to make it to that point? They only have three wounds and a 5+ save. Chaos Warhounds The anti-wizard tech is increased – they can still unbind 2 spells, which is nice, and each time an enemy Wizard within 30” successfully casts a spell and it’s not unbound, they take a mortal wound. That’s pretty cool and really annoying. We are going from being a chaff board control army with rend stapled on late to a toolbox and diverse army. The points increases attributed with that and overall 3.0 points are present to match. Beastlords who are used to a ton of models on the board will have something new to look at. Once you have a foundation of where you want your Tzeentch list to go, start experimenting. Whether you choose to focus on daemons or chaos your units likely won’t change as you only have a handful of choices for battlelines. They all serve specific roles and you need them to succeed with Tzeentch. Your “other” category you have more room to flex out on but the Tzaangor Enlightened for Mortals and Flamers for Daemons will remain very useful to you. Other Enlightened wield Fatecaster Greatbows, strung with ectoplasmic cords that send ensorcelled arrows on deadly paths. Lastly, some carry Chainswords and Autopistols used in their past lives as human Heretics, for these were the tools by which they first achieved glory before Tzeentch. The Tzaangor Enlightened are good leader options, in particular the one on Disc, while a Skyfire is a heavy hitter with high wounds that can complement an army otherwise made of Tzaangors or Acolytes in various proportions. Constantly aware of the flow of causality, Enlightened can see where and when their strikes will cause the most damage. The divining spears some carry are tuned to predetermined victims, emitting humming reverberations that grow louder as they near their targets.
