Is there anything else that you want to share with us about your business or your role as a graduate student before we wrap up? It’s so exciting seeing the fire in our student leaders at Peru State College reignited because of Natilie! I am at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where I am finishing up my PhD in Communication with a focus in Identity and Diversity, and also maintain an assistantship there. It’s also come from my own collegiate experience that has really propelled me as a leader and have taken advantage of opportunities and so, and networking. You proved yourself in your program and it came out that you were doing all of that with the business on the side, and being successful in both. I have gained professional tips which have proved helpful in both my personal life and role as a leader of the student government association.My alma mater, Central Michigan University, asked to keynote a multicultural freshman leadership program and to use my “A Different World” encounter as past student leadership as the foundation of my message. So just knowing where I always stood financially gave me the knowledge to make the best-informed decisions financially as a doctoral student. It’s smart to work a fulltime job to be able to save and invest into your business, learn a valuable skillset from your job, and then make a master plan to build up your business to such a high functioning level that the transition is smooth. Natilie: And with speaking, I was able to, there were some times where I was literally making whatever my assistantship was, I could make double that with speaking.

So that’s kind of when you were learning, as you said, the business of speaking and growing that part of it. Not to the cents, but to the dollar, and me doing that, I was able to take ownership of my finances and know at all times where I stood. New to teaching, Williams had her reservations but pulled inspiration from her past in student leadership and lessons taught from peer mentors.
