About this deal

There she meets Levi, older brother of her high school crush, and initial awkwardness and wariness gradually becomes something more. Georgie, 28 years old, in spite of being highly successful at her job as a personal assistant has recently been let go by her latest employer.

He, too, has come a long way: From local troublemaker to local dock builder, Levi rose to many occasions - just not confronting his toxic father and, thus, he’s also estranged from his siblings for no good reason at all. Despite this being - in true Kate Clayborn style - an internal book, with lots of inner monologues and thought processes for both MCs in switching POVs, I felt there was not much depth to the characters. Needless to say, Georgie, All Along was a big win in my book—the kind of mouth-wateringly swoony romance that burrows deep into my soul and leaves an everlasting mark. Fast forward several years and Georgie finds herself working as a PA for several in the entertainment industry in LA.Quickly George realizes this time back home brings back her insecurities and she feels more lost then ever trying to figure out what exactly she wants in life. Secondly, I only publish reviews of books in the subgenre where I’m best known (queer romcom) if they’re glowing.

They must have forgotten that Levi would be living in the house when their daughter got home… Or did they? There's a wonderful storyline of forgiveness in this that made me want to hug my book after finishing.

And, because of this, there are times when the book feels a little sprawling and structurally chaotic (although there’s a degree to which this is very reflective of its heroine, so I’m inclined to see this is a feature, not a bug) but, ultimately, all these connections come together absolutely beautifully---rendering this one of the most emotionally kind of nourishing? Kate Clayborn is the two-time RITAⓇ Award-nominated author of highly acclaimed romantic comedies, including Love Lettering, Love at First, and the Chance of a Lifetime series. It's lyrical and engrossing, a novel that possesses all the colors, idiosyncrasies, and range of the alphabet. I’ve been seeing this one around, and now I wish I’d picked it for my February book of the month instead of passing on all the choices.

And his soft heart is unmistakable when he interacts with his adorable dog, Hank, who is the current love of his life.

While unpacking boxes at Bel’s house, Georgie finds an old journal that she and Bel had written in when they were thirteen. That said, I've read this ages before y'all can, I'm so sorry, but this is going to be my favorite romance of 2023. And I recognise it may sound weird to be “complaining” about heteronormativity in books that are ostensibly about straight people but, well, heteronormativity is like the patriarchy. A sweet novel that reminds you going back is sometimes the best path forward' JODI PICOULT --This text refers to the paperback edition. Even though many of the themes have been done a million times before, it still felt fresh and genuine.

When she finds her teenage fiction filled with her younger self's ideas, she sees it as a sign and a new guideline for her future. But Georgie's plans hit a snag when she gains an unexpected roommate in Levi Fanning, local troublemaker turned recluse. Georgie, used to putting others' needs first after working as a demanding assistant, now feels a sense of emptiness. Georgie is impulsive, flighty, flexible, funny, a great organizer of others’ time and things, and she’s confused about her future. The smooth, vivid prose makes it easy to invest in the protagonists' well-rendered character growth. Both the story and the romance did pick up for me eventually, but by then I think I was 75% in and I had already been too annoyed by most things. Georgie’s plans hit a snag when she comes face to face with an unexpected roommate — Levi Fanning, onetime town troublemaker and current town hermit. Even the most enduring of friendships go through ups and downs and moments of resentment and envy along with a deep level of understanding and love for one another. Please note: This review may not be reproduced or quoted, in whole or in part, without explicit consent from the author. A novel of lush complexity, one bursting with humor, a tender melancholy, and meditations on love, friendship, and life, any reader can find solace and inspiration in.
