My favourite character was the queen because she was brave, resilient and understood that she didn’t need anyone to make her choices for her. By kissing the sleeping girl, she showed she was fearless and had lots of courage. At the end of the story, she chooses to walk away from her kingdom and go on a new adventure. This could lead to an exciting new sequel. This novel is filled with some of the most gorgeous illustrations I have ever laid my eyes on. Chris Riddell is an epic, pencil-wielding Wizard who I can't believe I've never heard of before. After stalking some of his other collaborations (Goth Girl, etc) I can definitely see myself buying more of his works! *grabby hands*The result is a beautiful and coveted edition of The Sleeper and the Spindle that the Guardian calls "a refreshing, much-needed twist on a classic story."
