About this deal

What’s more, the Awakened Wyldwood is perfect for adding interest and thematic depth to your battlefields. Each tree is designed with a special modular base that allows you to use them on their own as scatter terrain, or together as a tactical gaming piece. Care has been taken to ensure that even the densest of Wyldwoods are easy to use in game and won't obstruct play, measurements or errant dice rolls. Nurtured by Magic – Once per turn if your general successfully casts a spell, a friendly unit wholly within 18” gets to heal d3 wounds. D

They also have fantastic models that are gorgeous and a joy to paint. There’s a lot of different color schemes you can try out and will look great on the details tree models. Where is Path to Glory?

Spiteswarm Hive

What this allows Treelords to do is corner tag units, make them strike last and then stop them from piling in, whilst your Durthu gets to ruin something else’s day and strike and fade away first. Being anchors like this controls board space and helps prevent your castle from getting instantly overrun by all of the very fast armies that exist in AoS. Endless Spells Gladewyrm Regrowth – CV5. A d6 wound heal to one of your units, with an 18” range. Most Sylvaneth builds run lots of Kurnoth Hunters or Treelords, both of which are good recipients for a big heal. Being a d6 does make it very swingy. B Use the purple sun to roll the dice and potentially delete some models, but more importantly, get that additional -1 to Rend for your troops. The Sylvaneth can focus their choral power on three terrain features on the battlefield, turning the terrain Overgrown, making it function like Awakened Wyldwoods and healing nearby Sylvaneth units at the start of your hero phase.

Costly – The army can be expensive to get into, money wise. Your terrain piece involves linking 3-6 Citadel Wood models into a circle, just to make one, and you might need more than one set to fill out your army, before even getting into the models themselves. You can read about the Rite of Life and Alarielle’s exploits in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Core Book At the start of the hero phase, heal one wound to each friendly Sylvaneth unit wholly within 9” of awakened wood or overgrown territory Artefact of Power: Horn of the Consort –Reroll hit rolls for Kurnoth hunters within 12″ of the bearer. An interesting bit of design: after the gladewyrm moves enemy units within an inch take d3 mortal wounds on a 3+ and Sylvaneth units within 6” heal d3 wounds on a 3+. Downsides are that it’s slow, has a poor cast range and just competes with far better spells. Spiteswarm Hive The Dwindling: In the hero phase you can re-roll 1 casting roll, 1 unbinding roll, and 1 dispel roll as well as the wizard is Sylvaneth and wholly within 9” of an overgrown territory or Awakened Wyldwood.

Now let’s dive into the sub-factions specific lists starting with the Dreadwood. How to Play Sylvaneth: Dreadwood & Gnarlroot As stated before, combined with wyldwood you can relocate much of your force every turn if you’re smart, keep an eye out for openings in your enemy’s line.Harness the Spirit Paths – Make a charge with a unit set up by From the Woodland Depths. Two paths to success here: you can either teleport a unit and make the 9” charge or you can make an easier charge with a footslogging unit and then use strike and fade. This tactic plays into what your army wants to be doing every turn anyway, so whilst it is dice-based you will use this every game. A Deadly Harvest – CV6. This is an odd little 3” range nuke, hitting everything in range for d3 mortal wounds. The deployment restrictions on Wyldwoods mean you can’t combo this Spellsinger unless your opponent walks into it. Worth remembering with Alarielle if you start a turn surrounded, otherwise a skip. D

An interesting army leans on Sprite Revenants and builds into the teleporting mechanic built into this army. So, let’s play with that theme and build a list around it. This drastically expands the range of board coverage you have for your abilities, and reduces the scenery tax on your wallet. As you’ll see, most of the tools you have to add extra Wyldwoods to the board are still there, so if you want to play tournament games you’ll still wanna bring as many as you can but it does reduce the need for more casual players. From the Woodland Depths Chorus of the Woodlands – Complete 4 battle tactics and every battle tactic you complete is a Sylvaneth specific one. You just read the list of battle tactics. F All of your endless spells are very good, since you dont have to worry about them hurting you. It can be tough to find room, but they each have useful niches. Gladewyrm Dryads are your cheap battleline and if you have 2 or more clumped together this can be a very cost effective way to save them, it’s rather difficult to set up in practice though.

Seasons of War

All 3 wizard relics are definitely interesting. The Acorn of Ages lets you set up 1 free Awakened Wyldwood once per game. I can’t see taking this as you have other ways to spawn one, but it could be powerful if you are short on ways to do it, or are facing an army that will aggressively counter-spell you. Luneth’s Lamp I want to like but is far too niche, as it grants you the ability to Banish an invocation, gaining a +2 on the roll. You’ll be glad you have it when you do but as only 3 armies have invocations, its just not worth it. Finally the Vesperal Gem is going to be a popular take, as once per game you can get an autocast that cannot be unbound. Powerful in the clutch moments you need to get, say Treesong off.
