About this deal

At it’s center is a strong woman that I was rooting for all the way, it’s a full five stars from me and then some. Blackmail is the new standalone gangland thriller from Heather Burnside, author of the Working Girls series, that's perfect for fans of Kimberley Chambers, Martina Cole and Emma Tallon. The feeling of desperation and constant threat runs through the whole book, and is almost enough to make you want to stop reading, if you weren’t so invested in the characters.

The walls were painted in a relaxing dove grey aside from a feature wall, which was papered in a deep-blue and grey pattern with touches of silver. When they’d first met, she had been bowled over by the fact that he was so charming and couldn’t seem to do enough for her. Out of the corner of her eye, Beth noticed the manager watching her, but before he had a chance to comment, she rushed away from the bar, feeling flustered. He smiled disarmingly, and Beth noticed it made him look even more handsome with his perfect white teeth. The new home suited Brady, who was aspirational and liked the fact that he was now residing in Marple.Heather Burnside spent her teenage years on one of the toughest estates in Manchester and she draws heavily on this background as the setting for many of her novels. The lady and her dog passed by, and Beth was finally able to get Rex to come out of his hiding place behind her legs and continue walking.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. When Julie is accused of a crime she doesn’t commit, even her nearest and dearest do not believe her! The third part of the Riverhill Trilogy is rumoured to be out in June this year, so do yourself a favour and catch up with this series before then. His other hand was clasped around her middle, but it felt weighty, as though he was holding something, which was prodding her stomach. The characters are also a thrill to read, I can’t imagine being in Julie’s situation but it really did make me wonder what I would have done.

You may miss the characters being introduced, but the stories are not intertwined and you’d miss very little by reading this as a stand-alone book.Although she’s moved on, she’s never forgotten how far she had to go to beat her addictions and raise her daughter, Candice. Heather Burnside grew up in Gorton, a working-class area of Manchester famed as the original location for the TV series, Shameless. As Beth moves on from her trauma with new husband Brady , she seems a happy, successful career girl. In addition to vibrant and vivacious protagonist Rita and her dependable friend Julie, the book boasts an array of new colourful, contrasting and convincing characters. All characters, organizations, and events portrayed in this novel are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously.
