About this deal

The only scientific articles found related benzene formation talk about ascorbic acid (vitamin C), not citric acid and sodium benzoate. In all of the comments, the formation is only possible under very specific conditions such as extreme pH and/or elevated temperature and/or UV light. ATTITUDE products do not have ascorbic acid, do not have extreme pH, are not stored/used under high temperatures and are not exposed to light. As already mentioned above, baby wipes don’t really expire (like food), but there are some things that can happen to them over time that might influence the quality of the product. So far, we’ve concluded that there isn’t a foolproof way to keep wet wipes moisturized forever, but there are some things that you can do to make them last longer!

Behind the Brand: Kirkland Signature Wipes | Costco UK

Ingredients: Some wipes contain preservatives, fragrances, and other chemicals that can be irritating. Especially if your baby has sensitive skin, or a condition like eczema, choose baby wipes that have gentle ingredients. Looking at the Kirkland Baby wipes it has PEG-75 Lanolin, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol amongst other ingredients.) Water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tocopheryl acetate, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, citric acid, disodium phosphate, disodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate. In my Baby Wipes Rating List, I give Tencel as a plant-based material a rating of 5 out of 10. Alternatively, cotton is rated 1, and polypropylene (aka plastic of recycle code 5) is rated 10.

The sniff test: scent

You can use them for wiping your laptop screen, keyboard, and other devices in your house (television, cell phones, etc.) As I’m writing this, I notice that I haven’t cleaned my laptop screen in a while, so guess what I’ll be doing after I’m done writing! Years ago, when I started researching baby wipes, the only thing I thought important was to look for alcohol-free wipes. Since then, label reading has become my full-time occupation and calling, and my knowledge has expanded thanks to extensive research. (Stay with me to find out whether alcohol as an ingredient is a problem in baby wipes.) Wipe materials: Baby wipes are made from nonwoven fabrics that usually comprise a combination of natural and synthetic materials. None of the wipes we tested are biodegradable, compostable or flushable. Seventh Generation was a consistent performer in diaper changes and on messy hands and faces, without leaving a residue or lingering smell behind. Ingredients are almost all plant-derived and the wipes themselves are made from 70% plant-derived cellulose. They’re not the softest or most friendly wipes we tested, but more than one tester named these their favorite.

If something happens to those wet wipes (if they lose their effectiveness or become covered with mold), it will avoid potential complaints by customers like you and me because it’s specifically stated that they are best used by that date. I would even go further and encourage you to add some aloe vera extract or natural oils, but as always, the choice is yours to make. (Just be sure any products you add are safe for baby’s skin.) As a matter of fact, this is the most common reason for wipes becoming unusable. This has actually happened to me a few times so far. Wipes are great assistants when it comes to dust removal in the entire house from your bathroom to the kitchen. Just like those special cleaning cloths, wipes also attract dust effectively. According to the screenshots, the ingredients of the fragrance free and scented Kirkland Signature baby wipes are identical, except for the added fragrance in the scented ones. And all three kinds, including the flushable wipes, share the same preservation system – phenoxyethanol and sodium benzoate. Let us talk about these preservatives first. Is phenoxyethanol safe for babies’ skin?Only 30 years ago, caregivers were still wiping baby bottoms with wash cloths. It wasn’t until 1990 that Huggies introduced the first widely available disposable wipes, revolutionizing the way we changed diapers. Baby wipes are a billion-dollar industry in the U.S. alone, with steady worldwide growth.

As for benzyl alcohol, it is an aromatic alcohol used in cosmetic formulations as a natural preservative. Thus, the European Chemicals Agencydeems it safe for dermal applications. I rate benzyl alcohol 3 in my Baby Wipes Rating List. (Learn more about benzyl alcohol in my blog post about Evolvh Sulfate-Free Color-Safe Shampoo.) Bottom line, Kirkland Signature baby wipes have neither alcohol, nor any of the ingredients with the word “alcohol” in them. What are Costco baby wipes made of? First of all, make sure to keep them sealed until needed. This will keep them moisturized a lot longer. Each parent wants the best for their children, and raising children requires a lot of tools. One of the most crucial aspects of child-rearing is keeping things clean and preserving personal hygiene. One of those necessary kits that can keep a newborn safe is one with baby wipes.

Now that we’ve made that clear, here are some ways in which you can use expired baby wipes. Baby wipes for your beauty regimen
