About this deal

Recorded at Chale Abbey Studios, Isle Of Wight, across the summer with the band’s long-term live engineer Sergio Maschetzko, it’s also an album that comes loaded with a deep-rooted conviction in the end result.

Released alongside the announcement the band (Lewis Evans, May Kershaw, Charlie Wayne, Luke Mark, Isaac Wood, Tyler Hyde and Georgia Ellery) have also today shared the first single from the album, ‘Chaos Space Marine’, a track that has already become a live favourite with fans since its first public airings earlier this year - combining sprightly violin, rhythmic piano, and stabs of saxophone to create something infectiously fluid that builds to a rousing crescendo. I also noticed surface noise in a few places (during Concorde and Mark's Theme) but I wouldn't be surprised if it was my turntable (.My copy seems to sound really good I have two pops and no additional noise ithrough out the entire album which doesn't distract for me and the live album sounds amazing too. I own 4 copies of this album and this is the only pressing that doesn't have excessive surface noise. Following on almost exactly a year to the day from the release of their acclaimed debut “For the first time”, the band have harnessed the momentum from that record and run full pelt into their second, with “Ants From Up There” managing to strike a skilful balance between feeling like a bold stylistic overhaul of what came before, as well as a natural progression. disc 140g deluxe vinyl box set, black paper inner sleeves with 4 art prints and 22 page lyric booklet and sticker. Ants From Up There’s very first moments re-introduces a band that could not be more excited about where things were headed.

The relationship dynamic is familiar, but it’s never been heard on a song that slowly morphs from vaporous, free-time improv to bouncy township pop. Knowing how it all ends does nothing to detract from the joy Black Country, New Road have poured into Ants From Up There—not when they spend every second reminding us of why we let ourselves get swept up in these beautifully doomed fantasies to begin with. The placeholder titles of “Bread Song” and “Haldern” reflect their origins as improv exploration; the latter emerged from a 12-minute jam in the middle of a half-hour festival live stream set, between “ Athens, France” and a Weezer cover. The mastering is the same and quiet but it much easier to just turn the volume up on this with the low noise floor. On Ants From Up There they have expanded on this unique concoction to create a singular sonic middle ground that traverses classical minimalism, indie-folk, pop, alt rock and a distinct tone that is already unique to the band.Even without the YouTube archives, it’s easy to picture the evolution of “Snow Globes” in real time; a braid of harmonized guitars repeats until the strings follow suit, all while Wayne bashes away in a completely different meter, a provocation and also a fitting rhythm to Wood’s slow-motion implosion. And though England is mine, I must leave it all behind,” Wood announces as the album’s opening statement, a newly handsome lilt bearing a quintessential BC, NR lyric: brash enough to double as a pull quote for an NME cover and subject to granular pop culture forensics. In the same interview, drummer Charlie Wayne implies that they set out to make an album full of hits, having run up debts that put them in grave legal and/or physical peril. Their debut “For the first time” is a certain 2021 Album of the Year, having received ecstatic reviews from critics and fans alike as well as being shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.

Both statements speak to the band's wry sense of humor—of the 10 songs on Ants From Up There, two are instrumentals and five are at least six minutes long.Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement and Your California Privacy Rights. a little bit of surface noise but is hardly noticeable unless you are using headphones, otherwise it sounds amazing. All seven members of the London band amplify the dynamics of Wood’s every convulsion, from giddy infatuation to paralyzing despair, as he desperately sacrifices his serenity for a tragic and heroic cause. The band’s commitment to recurring motifs and cross-references ensures that Wood’s world remains somewhat coherent, though trying to explain it by analogy results in absurdly incongruous and incredible dream dates: Los Campesinos! Double black 140g vinyl, housed in an artworked gatefold sleeve with black paper inner sleeves and 20 page lyric booklet and sticker.
