About this deal

The story is an excusably unsubtle Cold War allegory and as such, fairly unremarkable given the prevailing attitudes of its time. However, the atmosphere of the main character's quest to warn his people, the Trumpets, of an incursion by their enemies, the Grumpets, is well suited to the visuals of the artwork, done in a technical yet whimsical natural history style. The artwork is accompanied by numbered annotations briefly describing the species of animals and plants, as well as other points of interest. There are relationships with the characters, and motives that accomplish negative feelings toward the warfare. You wouldn’t read the book, and inherently think that violence would be the promary cause of a war amonst the Trumpets and Grumpets. They create da setting whereas you find a paralle to what they may be doing int he past of the future, This almost creates a conflict to the reader, and instill values to the indicudual and maybe even the characters. This many happen in association with the other book in the series, The World of Trumpets. That is primarily made up of illustartions that may further explain how setting and circumstance belong to your imaginative subconscious. In the mid 1990’s, Peter Cross changed the look of the greetings card market. Introduced to the industry by Andrew Brownsword, his iconic ‘Harbottle & Co’ die-cut cards reached a wide international public and became phenomenally successful for Gordon Fraser (Hallmark UK). More recently he has enjoyed further success with his signature ‘Peter Cross’ range, first published by The Great British Card Company in 2007.

First off, I'm reviewing this book primarily from a nostalgic perspective. I was given the hardcover edition of Trouble For Trumpets as a child, and spent hours examining the incredibly detailed artwork. Something new jumps out at you every time you look at it; this book is fantastic for inquisitive children and/or families with a love of natural history. The meticulous, detailed images that have made Cross a cult name are now increasingly accompanied by broader, more painterly views, while his wide knowledge of art history not only continues to inform his repertoire of allusion but assists his work in the genres of portraiture and landscape. Always looking at ways to refresh and further his talents, he remains one of this county’s most original artists and illustrators. The charges outlined in the indictment, all of which carry significant prison sentences, include keeping classified documents without authorisation and possibly sharing them with others; conspiring to obstruct justice by resisting requests to return documents; putting pressure on individuals to refuse to testify against him or to make things up; concealing documents and making false statements. In all, Mr Smith is bringing 37 counts against Mr Trump under federal criminal laws including the Espionage Act, a law enacted in 1917 during the first world war.Retaining highly classified documents and misleading federal agents who wished to secure them is a new level of wrongdoing—and may put Mr Trump in greater legal jeopardy than the other cases—but the former president’s base may be unmoved by any accusations against their political hero. I search google anyways, but I could never find this book. Every few months, I'd find myself at the screen again, and suddenly, recall those vivid childhood memories. It is the sort of book one remembers, because it is not oversimplified drivel meant to cater to children. It is instead mysterious and imaginative, like Alice's Wonderland or The World of David the Gnome. Seared into my brain are little hippo-shaped goblins, depicted in ensconcing, detailed vistas. A dream of war sparrows, of seed cannons, and secret underground forts.

This is, after all, neither the first time Mr Trump has faced legal inquiry, nor the first time that he has been indicted. Just as before, the Republican Party appears to be uniting to defend him even as some are vying with him for the presidential nomination in 2024. Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor and his most serious rival, felt compelled to come to his defence. “The weaponisation of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society,” he tweeted. “Today, what we see is a justice system where the scales are weighted,” said Tim Scott, a senator from South Carolina, who is also seeking the nomination. (Both candidates made these remarks before they knew what the indictment said.) All of the information in the paragraph above can be taken with a grain of salt in the face of the book's true genius: it will grow with its reader. Very young children are presented with an amazing, possibly overwhelming amount of visual detail and can be guided through the story by their co-reader. Later, as they begin to learn to read, the simple story serves as an excellent entry to phoneme/word recognition, and the reader's increasing attention to the visual details are rewarded as the illustrations provide additional narrative not present in the text.

Within the imaginative illustration, Trouble for Trumpets: it forgoes convention children rhetoric, that most appreciate into adulthood. It is a pictorial illustration that is highly detailed, and greatly stimulates the imagination of the reader. It is extremely unique in how it creates a realm that projects you into something incredible special, and many who know about the world of Trumpets hold it dear to their hearts.

The imaginative tale is illustrated by Peter Cross, a story book written by Peter Dallas-Smith. It is a heartfelt story and there is a lot more to the world of the Trumpets whether one can appreciate the grandeurs of the illustrated life telling’s of Trouble for Trumpets. It is increasingly multi-faceted, in how it represents itself for a general presence as any old children’s book. “Lavishly illustrated fantasy children’s book about small underground creatures and a war. Lots of pictures of rail system and homely caves, all numbered and keyed. (Reddit)
