Sea glass pen, Beach pen, Ocean Ballpoint pen, Mermaid style, Coastal Stationery, Gift for teacher, gift for writer, Unique pen, Tiny shells Though pre-treating seems to be the essential step in stain removal, these products all suggested the same method: spray on the remover, let it sit for five to ten minutes, and wash (besides Shout gel, which said one could let it penetrate overnight and then wash, which we did).

The oxygen-based stain remover successfully eliminated the most difficult of substances from white cotton shirts without damaging the fabric. Time is not the enemy of this super-charged stain remover; it worked even on week-old, set-in stains. Floral Pens, Dried flowers, Stationery, Office Supplies, Gold Resin pen, Notebooks, Flower Pen, Pretty Pens, Personalised gifts, Stylish Pen Blot the fabric dry when finished. Blot away any excess solution once you’ve treated the stain with the Tide to Go Pen. You can also let it air dry until you can take the garment off and clean it further. We’ll be honest: We’ve been burned by stain remover pens before. They often dry up before we can ever use them and seem to smear the stain more than actually remove it. OxiClean changed our minds. While it—like most stain-fighters—struggled to remove the foundation, the little pen did a decent job removing the other stains. Even with some pretty intensive scrubbing, our tester found that it didn’t damage the fibers in the shirt at all. Similarly, protein-based stains (including blood, grass, and milk) are not water-soluble, and therefore require the introduction of another chemical to sever their bond to fabric. Unseasoned meat tenderizers can even be helpful in breaking up the protein in a stain. Original Drawing, English Landscape, Lake District, Cumbria, Ravenglass, Boat at Low Tide, by Robert Lafond We're sorry you had that experience. The Tide To Go Pen works best on fresh stains to keep them from setting. To use your pen follow these steps: This can be done with oxygen-based or bleach-based treatments. Hydrogen peroxide is a well-known oxidizing agent that, unlike bleach, doesn’t irritate eyes, throats, and lungs. Dye-based stains are the most difficult stains to get rid of and will most likely require a tough bleach to resolve. Protein-based stains

Of course, five to ten minutes is a smaller time frame for the pre-treating process, which makes the other products appear easier than OxiClean. Unfortunately, these products did not measure up to the simple soak that OxiClean offered in ease or effectiveness.Wait and reapply as necessary. Wait several minutes for the fabric to dry to determine the success of the stain removal. Repeat the process of releasing the solution and rubbing with the pen tip if the stain is still very visible.

Coffee spills cause stains because of their composition of tannins and heat. This is why you should be particular about washing certain stains in hot or cold water. Similarly, you should avoid drying anything that is stained because the hot temperature can worsen a stain alone. Because of their difficulty, some textiles are manufactured to be stain-resistant. Once finished, blot the fabric dry. If the stain has been treated with the Tide to Go pen, blot away any excess solution. You can also air-dry the clothing until you're ready to clean it properly. Rub the stain remover until the stain begins to fade or disappears completely. Make sure you're getting enough solution, gently rubbing the stain with the tip over all surfaces. Get one from a store with laundry supplies. Find Tide to Go Pens in the cleaning supply section with other laundry and clothing care items. Look for a retail store that sells other Tide products to find this item. Once we were fully researched on the chemistry of stains, we moved onto understanding stain removers. Which have a positive reputation? What chemicals are used? How does each product work? Do the products perform better on certain stains than on others? Are most stain removers similar in design? To use the pen for a test, take the cap off and press the tip of the pen firmly onto the area you want to test on until a small amount of solution comes out. Rub the stain with the pen tip, then wait several minutes until the solution mostly dries on the fabric to determine its effect.

Depress the tip of the pen to release solution. Uncap the pen and press the tip onto the area of fabric where your stain is located, until enough solution comes out to cover the area of your stain.

For my next round of testing, I purposely soiled another white t-shirt with some common staining agents: lip gloss, canola oil, and tomato juice. I applied the Tide pen, waited a few hours, and laundered the t-shirt as normal on a warm cycle. My results were fairly successful. The canola oil and tomato juice were gone, but the lip gloss was still visible. I used the pen on another shirt that had collected splatters of ketchup and mustard. The pen had little to no effect on the mustard, but the ketchup stains faded significantly.
