About this deal

The case has a diameter of 45mm including the shrouds, but note that it will depend on how you measure the case. It is of course made in stainless steel, but as you can notice from the very first impression, it’s not like any other. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit. Currently, the Seiko Group has seven watch brands under their name: Seiko, Grand Seiko, Credor, Pulsar, Alba, Lorus, and Orient. Overview of Seiko 5 Line We are also able to offer an exchange to a different product if required, please specify this when returning your product. The movement is rated to have an accuracy range of +45/-35 seconds per day. However, Seiko movements usually perform better than their posted accuracy. SRPG39 Strap

In terms of the text on the dial, the usual Seiko applied logo is set just above the newly designed Seiko 5 logo. “Automatic” written in cursive is situated at the bottom half of the dial. Home to a plethora of limited-edition timepieces, the Seiko 5 Sports collection is also brimming with brilliant collaborations. One such collaboration is with the streetwear brand, HUF. Launched with two iterations of the 5 Sports, the HUF Limited Edition is a vibrant addition to the collection. The Seiko Prospex SRP639K1 is part of Seiko’s Prospex collection. What does this mean? It means that, as the name suggests, it is built according to professional specifications. This in turn means that it is built according to the needs and wants of professional divers. And what better proof of quality and reliability than being used and trusted by professionals? Because if it is good enough for them, it is likely good enough for you, too.

If you were to get this watch for any other reason aside from the case or the movement, then definitely get it for the dial. It’s no secret that Seiko makes extremely durable and reliable at affordable prices. Seiko has a wide range of timepieces, but for watch enthusiasts, their sports and dive watches have the most appeal. Before we fill you in on the difference between the two movements, we must say that Seiko takes pride in producing watches with both Quartz and Automatic movements of equally superb quality. The decision regarding the movement will ultimately depend on your personal criteria and preference.

The mechanism within the watch is 4R36 automatic movement which is built in-house and the calibre is comprised of 24 Jewels and a 41-hour power reserve. Firstly, the iconic tuna shape is bold, different, and unique. This is a dive watch, but its design makes it look like no other. With this said, the almost round case with aggressive case details (shrouds) makes it stand out as a very sporty watch. The purpose of the ”shroud” is to work as a case protector/case guard to keep it well protected.Seiko arrived in watchmaking with the mindset to create a special segment targeted towards the Japanese watchmaking industry. This mindset has led to various creations and has broadened the world of watchmaking with Asian ingenuity. To further expand its watchmaking expertise, Seiko launched the Seiko Sportsmatic 5 in 1963, making it the first self-winding watch in Japan. Inspired by the Sportsmatic 5, the Seiko 5 Sports collection was launched in 1968. Since the launch of the collection, Seiko has kept the design uniform with very few changes to its DNA. Seiko is well-known for the Astron, which when it was unveiled in 1969, became the world’s first production quartz watch. The first thing that draws the eye is the contrast between the gold-painted applied arabic hour markers and the matte blue dial 4R36. Props to Seiko for coming up with this color combination. The gold and blue just meld together so well that a person might mistake this watch for a dress watch (and it practically can be, if you roll that way😉). The case shape of this watch is what is known by collectors as ”baby tuna”, as it is a smaller version of the larger model with the same case shape. This watch has later come to be known amongst enthusiasts and collectors as ”Yellowfin” baby tuna.
