About this deal

Sixteen-year-old Marlon has made his mum a promise - he'll never follow his big brother, Andre, down the wrong path. This story of family ties, gang culture and the dangers of drugs, is without a doubt one of the finest YA debuts I’ve read and Marlon Sunday is a character that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Patrice Lawrence (Author of Orangeboy) - Goodreads

Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Next door neighbours and best friends since childhood, the circumstances threaten to tear them apart, with Marlon delving deeper into his own thoughts and paranoia, and Tish feeling left behind and forgotten. A designated Savannah user receives a notification about the new message that can be edited, deleted, or sent as-is. That being said, it was an okay read and I understand why it won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2017 for Older Fiction. Her follow-up book, Indigo Donut (2017), was described by Alex O'Connell in The Times as "addictive", having "many of the themes of a Jacqueline Wilson novel: bullying, fostering, teenage relationships.

She could say that she understood what it's like sitting in the waiting room, with that horrible feeling in your stomach, then walking into the ward, eyes straight ahead so you didn't feel like an intruder in all those other stories.

Orangeboy by Patrice Lawrence | Goodreads

Assess incidents by trends, location, and time and day of week to give yourstaff the necessary data to allocate limited resources where they will be needed the most. The stupidity of the main protagonist knows no bounds, and it does feel like his lack of common sense (despite being pretty good at school with an educated and rational mother and male role model in his life) is used to propel the story.

OrangeBoy Inc. Savannah — OrangeBoy Inc.

Marlon’s world is very different to mine and reading Orangeboy gave me a much deeper understanding of this. Lawrence did a great job at creating a fast-paced story full of action and intrigue to keep readers on their toes. Sixteen-year-old Marlon has promised his widowed mum that he'll be good, and nothing like his gang-leader brother Andre. As a result, almost everything Marlon realises lands with no urgency or agency because it seemed to have nothing to do with the characters and premise I'd invested myself in during the first hundred pages or so. Fortunately my lovely friend Aali (we buddy read this) told me everything else that happened and I'm so glad I didn't suffer through it! Use the data integrated into Savannah to build your own reports using Excel and Microsoft Power BI, for data analysis and visualizations. But everything changes when Marlon's first date with the beautiful Sonya ends in tragedy; he becomes a hunted man and he has no idea why.
