About this deal

Ottman, special effects makeup artists John Carl Buechler and Brad Hardin, and actors Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Kane, Josh Hartnett, Jodi Lyn-O'Keefe, Depth: There are some sidewalk scenes that promote some really great depth, as well as when the woods when young Michael takes his first victim. Sure, Sheri Moon’s dancing scene provides some added dimensional enjoyment as well 😉 Depth: Solid amount of detail. Early on there’s some good shots with characters in front of doorways that really are a good example of the depth in the transfer. s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later benefits from Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis return to the franchise and a fresh start to its storyline. Now the heavily medicated headmistress of a private school, Laurie Strode (Curtis) lives a quiet life and is extremely over-protective of her son (Josh Hartnett). Hiding away with his girlfriend (Michelle Williams) and their friends, a fun weekend becomes a night of terror as Michael shows up to stalk the teenagers and face-off against Laurie once and for all.

Bottom line: how definitive is this set and will fans finally be satisfied? Well, it’s about as complete and definitive as it’s going to get. I’d say it rounds up about 98% of the existing bonus material from all of the other releases of these movies and that’s a pretty damn impressive achievement. The newly produced bonus material is top-notch, as good as we’ve come to expect from Scream Factory’s Collector’s Editions. It really does seem that every effort was made to correct any errors from past releases and create something special for fans who have been asked to buy these movies many, many times before. Everyone at Anchor Bay and Scream Factory deserves a round of applause for their work on this set. If you’re a horror fan, you should make this box a priority. It needs to be on your shelf. The Making of Halloween 4(HD, 48 min) — A brand-new retrospective by Scream Factory with recent cast & crew interviews.humanized in a way that he has perhaps never been humanized before. The audience never sees him directly, but Green, from the outset, reveals Color Reproduction: Colors are rich and do pop when available. Red is very distinct and strong as should be. There’s not a whole bright colorful palette in the film as a lot of this takes place at the dreary hospital. Archival Interviews (8:00, SD) spend time with actors Donald Pleasance, Paul Rudd, and Marianne Hagen, and director Clarity/Detail: Due to the nature of how this film was shot, its never going to look like The Avengers in high definition. This Blu-ray, to me, an appreciator of such thing, is detailed enough and wonderfully displays the excellent cinematography on the film. Of course the more well lit scenes look good, but there’s an artsy quality to some of the messier looking night scenes that garners my appreciation of this softer looking picture. themes that not-so-subtly pay homage to Carpenter's original. One of the high points for the film comes by way of its score, which like the rest of the

a DTV title for Dimension Films. The addition of Curtis magically turned the movie into a horror event, requiring some rewriting to make it work. Surprising news indeed! Though, I wouldn't call this a complete set, especially not, if one or two of the highlighted cuts aren't even in BD quality. I'm rather confused why they're including the original Halloween BD with the 35th Ann edition, as I don't believe it offers anything that the 35th Ann edition doesn't improve on - seems like just a misleading way to get rid of surplus, as I doubt anybody wants the original release now that the 35th Ann edition has taken its place. Would rather see the TV cut of the first film included instead. I also imagine some people will be disappointed they didn't get Universal involved so they could include Terror in the Aisles. Currently Halloween II has been my favorite sequel in the original canon. There’s a lot to love about this sequel. From the synth score to a some memorable kills. I also think the way they shoot a lot of the hospital sequences. Its a spooky looking film. Yes, there’s much more far fetched and over the top moments than the original, but its an extension of it taking it further. While the kills are more violent and graphic than the first, they are actually done with purpose and make the violence hurt and count. Surround Sound Presentation: Seldom used, but they are moments where they do far more than just ambiance or score. Scenes with John Ottman's Original Score(HD) — A collection of six scenes presented in DTS-HD Master Audio stereo.least resistance through its now forty-year history with various stabs at creativity but largely selling audiences on a name and an expressionless Surround Sound Presentation: Some really cool ambiance early in the film with the asylum. Mostly used for muted scoring and ambient environment sounds. including professional relationships with two actors playing Michael Myers. Keegan also shares slight wistfulness when discussing Curtis, last doubling If you were merely a horror fan or Halloween fan and not familiar with the work of Zombie going into this film, its an extremely polarizing retread through the original classic. Love it or hate it, the film’s title clearly states that this is Zombie’s vision and not Carpenter’s. On that wavelength, the movie is a bit of an effective piece of disturbing horror , albeit it still a trouble unbalanced film. Its one that feels like Zombie only got to make half the film he was looking to make.

including Paul Rudd, who took some time off to audition for "Clueless" during the shoot. Acting challenges are discussed, with nudity requirements It’s become something of a cliché in and of itself to say this, but John Carpenter’s original Halloween really did invent all of the clichés we’ve since come to associate with nearly all modern horror films. Before 1978, we simply didn’t have the typical tropes of the genre such as the virginal heroine, the parade of doomed, promiscuous teens, or the unstoppable, faceless monster lurking around virtually every corner. It’s not that Halloween reinvented the wheel – it invented the wheel to start with. As such, the film does, interestingly, tend to play far campier – and slower – to a more modern crowd than perhaps it once did, relishing (or perhaps, one could argue, languishing) in all of the same filmmaking styles and character stereotypes that the film itself created. For my part, Halloween is more of a staple of the season now than it is a truly frightening experience. I’m far too familiar with every nuance and jarring bit of musical score to actually be scared by the film these days. And yet, I still feel that I know all of these characters. I still get caught up in what’s going on, even if I know exactly how it’s all going to turn out. And somehow I return to it each and every October 31 st. I’m not sure why that is, but it certainly has to count for something.
