Her best yet! Ingenious and entertaining as ever but this book has a lot of WARMTH and HEART'' MARIAN KEYES Characters: I loved them all. At first I thought Kate was a little snobby, but she's actually really nice in the end and just needed some REAL friends. AJ was my favorite, she always had a positive attitude and was so kind, you could tell she had the love of God shining through her. Kaden was sweet and the love between him and AJ was so unexpected but so sweet!

A reality TV show is a possibility, and what could be better than contrasting Kate and A.J? Sprinkled throughout are thoughts on God, losing your faith and finding it again. Romance: This book's romance is simple, clean, and cute. Kaden and AJ end up dating (even though they have their differences) and are super sweet and all that. On the other hand, Kate's "boyfriend", Alex ends up being really annoying. He does some bad things to embarrass Kate, and lets just say they don't have a great relationship. I loved it. The set-up is glorious - a woman who joins a dating app with a fake photo meets a man whose photo is the only real thing about him. A novel about friendship and treachery that contains what must be the killer twist of the year. Totally brilliant' TONY PARSONS She then concocts a plan, to accidentally meet Ant in real life without revealing who she really is. While I for the most part enjoyed AJ's character more than that of Kate, I appreciated the fact that there was more to Kate than one would have first thought. In particular, I loved the fact that the authors chose to represent Kate as someone who has a strong relationship with her siblings, as it definitely gave her character an extra depth. Kate's brother Kaden plays a fairly important role in the book, as he starts to develop a romance with AJ throughout the course of the story, and it was really endearing to see the lengths the two of them go to keep their relationship from going too fast or too far. This may have been a shorter length novel, but it still manages to dive into some pretty important issues like losing a parent, parental divorce and remarriage, peer pressure, rumors, and overall, standing up for what you believe in.

I’ve read – and loved – ALL of Jane Fallon’s books, but Just Got Real is her best yet! Especially gorgeous on female friendship’ MARIAN KEYES I've read - and loved - ALL of Jane Fallon's books, but Just Got Real is her best yet! The plotting is as ingenious and entertaining as ever but this book has a lot of WARMTH and HEART. It's especially gorgeous on female friendship MARIAN KEYES Ingenious. Her eye for detail, compressed emotion and the absurdity that lurks beneath what people say to each other, is unerring. One of our very finest comic novelists * Tortoise Media * A deliciously compelling story of romance and revenge. Just Got Real is intelligent, funny, and sharply observed. Be prepared to read in one sitting!" - Lucy Clarke

Fallon describes Joni's job-sharing down to a tee, that slight resentment of the other person and any work they didn't manage to get to. She also does a brilliant job with the online dating world. More than anything though, I think I just found Joni and her life really relatable, and I enjoyed all the details of her life, her flat, her job and her love of the gym. I was sad to leave her behind and I feel like I got to know her really well. Just Got Real is a story of four vividly-drawn women and one horribly believable man, a novel about friendship and treachery that contains what must be the killer twist of the year. Totally brilliant.' * TONY PARSONS *It was nice to read about AJ’s romantic relationship with Katie’s brother and how she was so aware of herself and her emotions throughout. It was also interesting to see just how vastly she differed from Katie. This book was set up so each chapter was from the point of view of either Katie or AJ so the reader could get first person dialogue from the main characters. I am genuinely really struggling to rate this one. I had good feelings about it. I had bad feelings. I enjoyed it overall but downright disliked it at first. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the last half of the book which was entertaining. To me, this read like a crossover between Desperate Housewives and The Tinder Swindler. Just Got Real is described as a ‘revenge rom com’, and that truly is an apt description. It has more revenge than romance but plenty of humour throughout. There are two main themes that Fallon explores which are middle aged dating, which for some reason, at my ripe 28 years, I’ve always loved reading about, and she also explores friendship through the dynamics of Joni, Saffy and Mary.

I finally finished this BELTER of a read from Jane Fallon...It is FABULOUS - with such warmth and humour, and the usual dose of the dish that is best served cold. Just Got Real is the perfect summer read." - Claire Allan Joni daren’t confess her lie. Yet unable to stop thinking about what might have been, she hatches a plan to ‘meet’ Ant in real life without revealing who she really is.A smart and funny look at the pitfalls of online dating. It provides laugh-out-loud moments . . . I've read all Jane Fallon's books! ADELE PARKS, SUN When 16 year old A.J. Smith has to move from rural Louisiana to just outside Nashville, TN. after her widowed mom reconnects with a high school flame, she's not exactly thrilled about it. She'd much rather stay behind and work on vehicles like she used to when her father was alive. Instead, she finds herself in strange territory and attending a fancy private high school. Her tuition has been paid by a mysterious benefactor and no matter how often or how forcefully she asks her mom, that person's identity remains a secret. Her snappy, clever fiction . . . seems to slip down like a glass of nicely chilled white wine. Just Got Real - her 12th book - makes no exception . . . Fallon has a nose for distilling the zeitgeist and we are in The Tinder Swindler territory here Sunday Telegraph Her best yet! Different aspects of both AJ and Kate were very relatable to me. I can resonate especially with AJ when she says "It's so much easier to just not care too deeply for other people. Then you can't get hurt when they leave." As I described above, the plot line and outlook of the story seemed interesting and unique; however, upon reading the story I was not only disappointed, but left wanting way more than the book actually had. Plot: Really good, it wasn't too fast but not too slow either. Main characters (AJ and Kate) are asked to be on a reality show. Kate thinks that this is her way to fame and will be great for her future in fashion, while AJ would rather go hunting and be with her brothers. Both girls have things that they're struggling with, but through an unexpected friendship maybe, just maybe, they can work things out. I've read - and loved - ALL of Jane Fallon's books, but Just Got Real is her best yet! The plotting is as ingenious and entertaining as ever but this book has a lot of WARMTH and HEART. It's especially gorgeous on female friendship * MARIAN KEYES *

Soon they are a happy, steady item. Until Joni discovers Ant is still on the app, still dating other women . . . Kate is in the running for a reality show, and once A.J appears, they want the reality show to show the two different sides of Tennessee life. A.J also becomes good friends and then by the end of the book, kind of boyfriend/girlfriend with Kate's brother Kaden. At the end of the book Kate and A.J kind of come together. Your writing makes the world a brighter place, [Jane Fallon]. Just Got Real is an absolute joy * JOANNA CANNON * Once she and Ant are an item, however, it’s soon clear that the only thing Ant was honest about was his profile picture. He’s still online dating. And intimately texting other women.
