About this deal

I struggled with this part and found myself skipping these sections and jumping back into the sister’s stories. People are running and screaming, while a news anchor with tousled hair and a vintage leather bomber jacket offers the news in properly grave tones. Who seemingly has it all, a rich and handsome husband, two terrific kids, a storied house to investigate – and a gigantic secret. I think the problem I had with this book and this seems to be a running trait is that the drama was either boring or completely far-fetched.

Not for her the ordinary demise of a fiery car accident or a leap off a bridge, though she threatened those often enough. Mildly recommend as long as you don’t mind a little bit of sappiness and drifting around in a story that should do better to keep to it’s central theme. In various flashbacks throughout the novel, we see that she grew up on the Pacific coast with her parents and sister Josie, as well as their adopted brother Dylan.

But she has a dark past that has now shown up on her doorstep, and she is willing to do anything not to lose everything she has – even though eventually she will need to face her demons. Kit, emotionally torn from the sense of grief, loss, and anger, decides she must go to New Zealand and find/confront her sister.
