About this deal

I’ve been on a bit of a binge of this series having being late to the party with the Robert Hunter series and, alas, as of this date, I’ve read the last in the series. Detective Robert Hunter has long been a valuable member of the Ultra Violent Crime division of LAPD Homicide, investigating the most heinous crimes committed. If you haven't read the previous books you could start here but you miss a lot of the history and they are really good books so I would recommend going back. The opening chapter of this was so creepy I went my first time ever live on Tiktok (smbslt) as I was reading it home alone. The characters, which series fans will have come to know well, continue to have depth to their personal backstories and fit together effectively for the overall experience.

That in no way takes away from the brilliance of the writing and storytelling and for once, when Hunters seasoned partner Garcia utters his “you’ve gotta be kidding me “ type comments that frequent all these books has a case in point! Aš kad ir kaip bandžiau nuspėti kas slypi už visų šių žiaurių nusikaltimų, tačiau to padaryti man nepavyko.

Detective Robert Hunter was seen some of the world’s worst sadist and psychotic killers in his time with the LAPD Ultra Violent Crime Division but in Genesis he is going to come up against a killer like no one before, a killer that is twisted and evil beyond imagination. That being said, Genesis, the 12th book in the Robert Hunter series, was as deliciously good and chilling as its predecessors. There are some strong themes of suicide and mental health throughout the story and I think that the author did a wonderful job with it. Denn die Geschichte offenbart zum Ende doch auch eine ganz tragische Geschichte, mit deren Intensität ich so nicht gerechnet hätte.

But this discovery does more than just link the two killings – it suggests that this is the work of a serial murderer. Galėčiau plepėti apie šią knygą daug, tačiau negaliu atskleisti Jums daugiau detalių, jog nesugadinti skaitymo malonumo. However, with more lines and more victims but an unexpected breakthrough the story comes to a satisfying conclusion and an end to one heck or a rollercoaster, adrenaline pumping story that will leave you uncomfortable and a little stunned.

In the end, I came to the conclusion that the author tried too hard in the wrong direction to make the book better than his last one and went up a notch on the shock factor. The dedication at the start is beautiful and made me cry even before I started to read it, The end of the book has details of helplines for those who are struggling. Even though the page count is of 500+ more, I was damn sure that this author will not disappoint the readers in any way and it comes out true. A superb storyteller that keeps you hooked even though you don’t want to continue reading the story, because ‘you need to know what happens and why! You can’t really go into any detail about this book and the title without major spoilers so I obviously won’t. He worked as a criminal psychologist for several years before moving to Los Angeles, where he swapped the suits and briefcases for ripped jeans, bandanas and an electric guitar.
