About this deal

As an all in one, Epson A4 photo printer, the XP-7100 is a good choice for a family or home printer, particularly if you intend to do a lot of scanning. The automatic document feeder and ability to sheetfeed the scanner means you don’t have to manually switch out papers, or flip them over to scan the other side – the scanner will do it all for you. Also included with the Epson SC-P700 is a 4.3in LCD optical touchscreen for more intuitive printing. Additionally, this Epson SureColor printer also includes mobile and cloud printing functionality, working with Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print, for example. x 5″, 4″ x 6″, 5″ x 7″, 8″ x 10″, A4 (8.3″ x 11.7″), letter (8.5″ x 11″), 11″ x 14″, B (11″ x 17″), A3 (11.7″ x 16.5″), Super B (13″ x 19″)

Papers for front loading are first lined up with the marks on the grey width setting sliders. Note the instruction/guide on the screen. The posterboard setting has quite big end margins. I’m printing an 1890’s map of the area round my home, which includes my then recently built house.

Getting the Most From the Pro-300

You may be able to save a bit of money by purchasing off-brand paper. As long as it comes with accurate ICC profiles, you should be fine, but it wouldn't hurt to research what others say about specific media and, if possible, request samples. Near-dedicated professional photo printers like the Pro-300 are not budget-minded machines, and skimping on paper may give you undesired results. Over the years, I have found that using Canon's inks and papers on Canon's high-end photo printers is the safest way to go. Photo print quality from the TS6320 is excellent, as you would hope from a modern printer produced by a well-known photography brand like Canon. The colors are vibrant, with perfect saturation, and details are sharp pleasing to the eye. Color accuracy doesn’t quite follow print quality, and you are likely to see colors not quite matching those on your monitor, but the extra inks mean that quality is still better when comparing the HP Envy 6055 vs Canon Pixma TS6320.

Remember that a rubbish photo is a rubbish photo no matter how much you crank up the settings… SoftwareDepending on the size of the print there are two options for making wide panoramic prints. One uses sheets of paper cut to the right size, whilst the other uses roll paper. There are several different settings in the printer driver controls which have an effect on print quality. I’m told that the full range of profiles has been delayed as a result of the current pandemic. Epson Media Installer Printing Technology: Advanced MicroPiezo AMC 10-channel, drop-on-demand printhead with ink-repelling coating technology Moving to the Hot Press Bright paper (a smooth matte art paper) at the highest quality setting (Q5), a slight crunch of shadow detail is apparent, but the dmax is a fairly good 1.7

I connected up the printer to our Ethernet network, and it found its place and connection details. Similarly, you can easily set it up to connect to a wireless network. For any paper loaded, you can set paper details on the front display. You can choose to allow printing with mismatched paper/size settings, but I find it much easier to get in the habit of always setting the correct paper details. My take away point would be to ignore marketing features and specs and don’t assume that just because you set all quality sliders to maximum, your prints will look ‘better’. I love the book covers with your photos. I’m also a writer and a reader, and a book and book cover designer (and graphic designer), though most of the covers I’ve done have been illustrated, but I appreciate the search for exactly the right photo and thank those photographers for finding them. When comparing the Canon Pixma ix6820 vs Pixma Pro 100, the Pro 100 has superior print quality, but not by an amount that you are likely to notice unless you hold the print close to your face. The ix6820 has cheaper inks and is a much newer model, therefore being smaller and lighter, and more suitable for a home environment. Combined with the substantially larger number of prints, the ix6820 is a better choice for most.

I’ll use printing one of my B&W test prints as an example. Here’s a more normal printer display, albeit with progress bar and time estimate. BTW this estimate was pretty accurate. This can be printed, and is best done from the front panel, where the touch screen makes things so much easier than having to use arrow keys to step through menus/options. I’ve loaded basic A4 copier paper for this. As well as using Epson profiles for some of their papers, I created quite a few profiles of my own, typically from nearly 3000 patches on an A3+ sheet.
