About this deal

you can see that the driveside assembly is merely 'FC-RX600' - it is not FC-RX600-1 or FCRX600-10/-11, it's just FC-RX600, so the difference between the three models is the chainrings. I'm not sure. I've bodged plenty things to an adequate standard before - if you're buying relatively expensive new kit it's nice if it works sweetly! Keep the mech but change the cassette (and chain) for 11spd items? https://masoncycles.cc/products/insearchof-grx then it boasts HUGE 27.5 x 2.8" or 29 x 2.4" tyres, but it uses a Deore XT 1x chainset, which obviously has massive q-factor and eliminates Shimano's incompatibility between its MTB front derailleurs and its road brifters.

A number of technologies have filtered down to 105 R7000 from the more expensive Ultegra and Dura-Ace groups and Tiagra components are a little heavier. As ever, you pay more for lighter weight. Nobody needs 11t, who is not racing. And 2t jumps are just incredibly annoying, making it impossible to keep a comfortable cadence. The changes that Shimano has made mean this groupset is now much more similiar to the company's more expensive groupsets in appearance, ergonomics and functionality. If you're upgrading from previous Tiagra or a lower level groupset, you'll really appreciate the improvements. Shifting up If you go for 105, on the other hand, you could swap to Ultegra or Dura-Ace gradually as each component wears out. That might be attractive, but only if you’re realistically likely to do this. The groupset I've been testing came attached to a bike, so I wasn't able to weigh all the individual components – and Shimano hasn't published a weight yet. So we called them in and weighed them for you. Here are the numbers: Tiagra offers excellent value for money but 105 is certainly the better groupset and we’d recommend going for it if your funds allow because of the better brakes, the small weight saving and the upgrade to 11-speed.

no offence, but it was obvious fact since the 47.. came out, that it uses a different actuation ratio as that of older 10 spd components. These models are similar in quality to Ultegra, though the RX812 is based on the M8000 Deore XT RD. RX812 is intended for an 11–42t 1x setup, and has been modded with an M8000 long cage to go beyond this. RX810 is a more conventional-for-road double, with a 11–34t cassette. We researched other brands and found that they were appalling quality straight out of the box and often more expensive too. These two gentlemen could not be any more accommodating if they tried, quality service that is a rare find in today’s crazy world, I can not recommend this company enough!

Bike & Bulky Item Returns

The 105 R7000, Ultegra R8000 & Dura-Ace R9100 levers are a newer generation with slightly different ergonomics. Dura-Ace has better-quality internals, which might result in longer-term durability, but there doesn’t seem to be much difference initially. However Ultegra & Dura-Ace get carbon fibre levers, which might be nice in cold weather. They weigh only 438g and 365g respectively, whereas 105 is similar to Tiagra at 482g. edit: just look at side-by-side comparison pictures of older (sis-ratio) derailleurs and the new-line 9000-6800-5800-4700 rds. they hardly have any resemblance in terms of fixing bolt position compared to pivot bolts, and their side plates differ as well. Tiagra is good value for what you get, and here that's a nicely made chainset that gives you a few more usable gears in the big ring by sacrificing some top-end speed. It strikes me as quite a niche product, and debatable whether it's worth the effort to change just your big ring without lowering all your gears. That said, if you're happy with your climbing gears and don't find you're using your 50x11 (or 12) combo very often, it could be worth considering next time your chainset needs replacing. I prefer it to my old 50/34 FSA chainset, but ideally I'd like lower climbing gears too. Verdict
