About this deal

With her blog going from strength to strength and her Instagram building up a mega following of like minded individuals, at last her first book is born! It might not help you to find prince charming, but it will definitely help you to avoid his evil step-brother! It will help you to recognise that you possess spectacular buff ting energy and that it's perfectly possible to be contentedly single. It’s a decent read even if I would recommend not taking everything in it to heart - it’s definitely quite a cynical outlook on dating, but there’s some good advice in there.

The synopsis explains: “Lala tackles serious themes in a lively, engaging way, coaxing her followers to confront any questionable behaviour by men in their lives or the ‘fuckboys’ they encounter while dating. I can’t wait to give women the guide that I wish I had had before I attempted to jump into the dating pool without learning how to swim.A thirty-something mother of one with an absolutely no way, no how, no nonsense approach to dating and relationships.

Dating in 2022 is far from easy - but luckily Lala has written the bible for single women everywhere. I particularly liked that chapters had trigger warnings at the beginning, which means you can easily skip past the ones that will negatively impact you. Lalalaletmeexplain commented: “I am honoured and excited to have been given this opportunity by Transworld and Penguin Random House. Her mix of professional knowledge coupled with her openness about her own experiences has already gained her an army of loyal followers and I know this book will be an invaluable guide for so many.We at Penguin Random House Australia acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the Traditional Custodians and the first storytellers of the lands on which we live and work. A no-bulls*it approach to dating and adulthood as a woman - which I’m sure everyone needs sometimes. We honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' continuous connection to Country, waters, skies and communities. Dating in 2022 is far from easy – but luckily Lala has written the bible for single women everywhere. The describes about 15 types of ‘fuck boy’ which by the end of the chapter was boring and I felt she was scraping the barrel!

After a particularly rough go of dating, it’s not crazy to think you might be left feeling disheartened. I thought I would be the target audience for this book, being a similar age, and a single Londoner trying to make the best of dating apps. There really aren’t many nice things said about men, and although there are a great number of guys out there that definitely aren’t matches for us, there are some ‘decent men’ out there. Layla’s stories are completely honest accounts of her experiences, told in a no-holds-barred and often hilarious style. The sad truth is that when it comes to modern dating, there are a whole host of challenges and hurdles to overcome. Her most popular catchphrase is ‘Block, Delete, Move On’; she presses women to recognise their own acquiescence to unacceptable behaviour, and helps them to spot the red flags in their relationships. And honestly, for at least the first half of this book, I don’t think you’ll feel anymore optimistic. Both on Instagram and on her fortnightly podcast, Lalalaletmeexplain delves into the highs and lows of modern-day dating to give raw and honest advice on topics that people are often too embarrassed or afraid to talk about, says the publisher.

She opens up the book saying it’s for those who can relate to those ‘raise your hand if you have been personally victimised by your own taste in men’ memes and honestly… Who hasn’t? And it will definitely help you spot red and pink flags, and maybe even feel a little bit victimised by your own past dating choices. BLOG: La,la,la, let me explain Bad Dates, Good Stories, Naked Truths (names have been changed to protect the guilty) (lalalaletmeexplain. If you, like so many, are struggling with modern dating (apps, gaslighting, abuse, negging, ghosting) then get this brilliant book.Painful to read as just broken up with perhaps the love of my life and probably my fault due to old hurts or plain insecurity and complete lack of realism of love matters and a man’s brain wiring. We celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, traditions and living cultures; and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.
