About this deal

For liquid, autumn and winter feeding we stay with the more traditional nutrient mix so that your lawn will end the year with the correct nutrients it requires on an annual basis. Testing for clay or sandy soil? For homeowners I recommend you use the Rotary Spreader instead of the drop spreader. They’re much easier to use and since they disperse the granules at a wider distance, there’s much less chance of you ending up with stripes, damaged grass and over lapping. Liquid fertiliser is generally more expensive compared to granules. Bear in mind that if you have been using granules, you will need to convert your equipment to deliver the liquid fertiliser. It is not ideal as the first or last feed of the year due to its limited range of nutrients but is excellent from late spring to early autumn. Use a granular feed to start and finish the lawn year.

Applying soil conditioners such as manure and compost helpmake nutrients, water and air all more available to plant roots asthe soil forms into crumbs with spaces for air and water between them. The fertiliser will help establish new grass faster so apply the feed on the same day or within a week of seeding. If over seeding do not feed before seeding otherwise your existing lawn will outgrow the new grass. Feeding AND Moss Treatments

Granular products can be applied by hand (for small lawns or awkward areas) or spreader. Because Lawnsmith®granular fertilisers don't contain pesticides you can use a rotary or broadcast spreader which is faster and gives a more even distribution compared to a drop spreader.

Whether you live in locally in Scotland, or at the other end of the UK, we deliver throughout the country, meaning that you can enjoy our products wherever you live. We also offer a range of Guides to help you choose the right seed and fertiliser for your garden, and regularly post advice on keeping your garden healthy and lush. Lawnsmith® Extra-LONG, Spring & Summer and Autumn fertilisers have a high safety margin and will not burn or scorch if applied when moisture is present in the surface soil. This means not having to worry about rain, weather forecasts or watering in! If the ground is dry or hard or the grass has stopped growing because it is dry then DO NOT apply. Use our Starter fertiliser. Then start feeding as a mature lawn after about 3-4 months according to one of the three programmes outlined in the Fertiliser Buying Guide. When to apply Flexible - Three or more Feeds per Annum: For the keen gardener or lawn enthusiast, you can exert much more control over the lawn by using 3 month slow release fertilisers and liquid fertiliser. Use the appropriate Spring & Summer feed in spring, and in summer, if conditions warrant it, either repeat the application or use Solugreen liquid feed every 4 to 6 weeks. Finish the year with an Autumn feed.Identify the type of grass plants in your lawn as some require more nutrients (ryegrass) and some less nutrients (fescues). The 9-7-7 Everris ICL Sportsmaster fertiliser is ideal for treating grass throughout spring and summer. 9-7-7 Sportsmaster is suitable for treating any grassed area from sports fields to fine lawns. A fast acting blended fertiliser, 9-7-7 Sportsmaster will help you gain a healthy, lush and vigorous lawn. Having a healthy lawn enables it to withstand many lawn issues, such as weeds, moss growth, disease and drought. You can expect the nutrients to be released slowly over a 6 week period which avoids any rapid top growth and repeated mowing. Apply by hand or through a spreader in mid-season on areas subject to intense use. If you haven't seen this sort of damage before with your lawn in previous years, then it is worth getting a grass seed that suits your ordinary conditions whether that be a grass seed that is needed to be hard wearing or one that is suitable for use on a sports field. If weeds are growing within the lawn, control them using a selective weed killer to make sure that you are not going to harm the lawn
