The Old Ones are hominid, extremely long-lived, and pre-date Homo sapiens by more than a million years. The Old Ones generally remain aloof from the surface peoples, but from time to time, they have been known to offer constructive criticism; and it has been said, they often kidnap human children to tutor and rear as their own.” Mellamphy, D. The narrative is fast-paced with an engaging plot, as the 3 teenagers set out on a dangerous quest relying on their skills alone (magical and otherwise) to make their way through a land still reeling from a devastating war, and an ongoing mystery connecting Ethan with an ancient prophecy. The characters are 3-dimensional and believable, with realistic behaviors typical of teenagers as they struggle with their doubts and insecurities, trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world. The diary of Admiral Byrd also states that he was greeted by emissaries of the mysterious land of Agartha. However, serious doubt has been cast on these entries in the diary of Admiral Byrd, and he may indeed have never made it to the North Pole in his explorations.

Banerji (eds), Critical Posthumanism and Planetary Futures. Los Angeles: University of Philosophical Research. Draft available online at Academia.edu/ 283003.The concept of Agartha has been closely associated with Shamballa, a prominent highlight in Vajrayana Buddhism alongside Tibetian Kalachakra teachings. Shamballa, also known as Shambhala, is believed to be the seat of governance of Agartha. The existing assumptions about Agartha imply that the residents have superhuman intelligence and a better way of life as compared to their counterparts above land. Darren is not only a Red, a nation despised for the atrocities committed in the purification war, but also a shapeshifter, a rare caste within the Reds considered to be more beast than man. Rejecting his own nature, young Darren sets out to find a way to change the color of his aura, for all he really wants is to be an artist, inspiring admiration instead of fear. Google Map: Himalayan Mountains, Tibet – the entrance to the underground city of Shonshe is allegedly guarded by Hindu monks The Good "The Green Boy" is the first book in "The Chronicles of Agartha" series, a young adult epic fantasy novel set in a world beneath our own, where the color of one person's aura determines their magical abilities and the nation they belong to. The worldbuilding is vividly imaginative: the history of Agartha, the hidden school of Nafoura, the purification war, the 6 color based nations, the magical skills (Vrill) specific to each nation... with each element adding to the complexity of this world (though some seem a bit contradictory and would benefit from a little more development).

Deleuze, G. (1990) ‘Post-Scriptum sur les Sociétés de Contrôle’, in Pourparlers 1972-1990. Paris: Éditions de Minuit. Since its original publication by Saint-Yves, the ideas of Agartha have become highly entwined with Hollow Earth theories of various stripes. In his book on Hollow Earth theory, David Standish calls Agartha “the name Buddhists give to the underground world they believe in,” though it might be more accurate to say that Western occultists have since conflated Agartha and Shambhala, a spiritual kingdom associated with certain Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
