About this deal

As long as the child is ready it's a breeze. I was dreading it with my first dd but it was so easy I remember wondering what all the fuss was about. Same with second dd, no accidents after a the first few days.

Potty Training In One Week - Gina Ford - Google Books

For us the first day was a nightmare, second was better and by lunchtime on the third day she was dry and fully potty trained. Depends on the child really. My daughter was potty trained in 5 days at just under 2.6 and was dry and out of nappies at nighttime a few months after that. Smarties helped! My middle son took 6 months and was a complete nightmare. He's nearly now and only recently reliably dry at night.

Here’s the main thing that Dads need to know about Gina Ford’s book. You won’t read it, despite swearing blind that you would. There doesn’t seem to be anything anyone can do about this. I’ve read a bit of it for this article, so feel free to quote me like a boss. 2. Potty Prep Wow! You even potty train other children! I really hope she will do a poo soon but tends to do it near bed time when we have out nappy on. I hope she's not holding it TMI sorry.

prepare for the arrival of a second baby, including how to cope physically, emotionally and financially, and how to adapt her routines when caring for a baby and toddler Many parents experience a long and bumpy ride along the road to a nappy-free existence. Advice on offer from grandparents, friends and professionals is often conflicting, leaving parents unsure of how and when to potty train their child. Can’t offer much in the way of advice but would she go if you lined the potty with the nappy instead or her wearing it? Might be a gradual step and then remove it when she’s comfortable? Potty training is really hard in my experience, but she will get there 💜 Any consolation- my son was just shy of third birthday and first day did nothing but wet himself; second day we were about 50:50 and then day three we had one accident. The case studies felt like the same thing over and over again which made it predictable and unrealistic feeling. It was nice to have step by step guide, especially since I'm clueless when it comes to babies, kids and all things related. Just like her "Contented Little Baby Book", you have to be committed and willing to spend a lot of time and effort in the beginning to get any reasonable results. Others will tell you to do low-demand with your DD but you have to reduce the demands (expectations) on yourselves too.

Your main job will be soaking small wet underpants every night because your 18-month-old didn’t quite get what was going on in the Bear in the Big Blue Mountain Potty Training Video. The good news is she can sing every note of the weird rap in that video (look it up); the bad news is she often does this while wetting herself. 3. You Put Your Botty On The What? I didn’t read a book but just went ‘cold turkey’ on the nappies for my dcs. Day 1: wee every where. Day 2: still wee everywhere (me: tears everywhere). Day 3: a few weeks on the floor most in the potty. Day 4: victory. children in general are physiologically ready for traning by 18mo - it is a cultural concept of readiness that interprets 'readiness' otherwise. Plenty of (widely ignored) evidence for that.Be strong. IMO pull ups are confusing and a bit grim, once you can see in a potty why would you want to wear a nappy?

We had this - I went to the extremes of cutting a hole in the nappy so it would fall through into the toilet but she was still "wearing it". I would agree with everyone who has said that if your little one is ready then it will be relatively straightforward. I am not a fan of Gina Fords baby books ? but this one worked a treat for ds1 and now has again with ds2. I thought it made a lot of sense and was a very reasonable, gentle approach. (e.g. If your child does not already do x,y or z then wait a while before starting, they might not be ready. Give them small rewards when they do something on the potty. Give them lots of praise for trying and don?t tell them off when they have an accident, just encourage them) We had always used a different brand of nappy for bedtime and thankfully she didn't demand an un-holey night-time nappy to use for daytime wees.Just because you don’t wash your hands after going to the toilet doesn’t mean you should pass that habit on to your kids. The bit you never tell you in potty training school is that you will also need to teach kids how to wash their hands. The good news is it’s very easy to get a child to start washing his hands. The bad news is virtually impossible to get him to stop. I didn’t know where to start with our potty training journey so this was a great book to get ideas!
