About this deal

I remember some of the earliest mice in Sun SPARCstations, which in 1989 already used an optical sensor but required a metal pad with optical markings etched into it to work. While the precision and speed was much better than the mechanical mice of the day (much less effort cleaning them, too), I quite remember being constantly irked by the metal's higher level of thermal conductivity: the right palm of my hand always felt a bit cold and that might have permanently biased me against anything pad underneath my mice. The world of gaming mousepads has been going through somewhat of a renaissance in recent years. Our own usage numbers indicate that there’s a growing interest in the competitive scene for more premium mouse surfaces, and if we’re going by what we’re seeing on social media and in the gear enthusiast scene, this is a trend that’s here to stay. The pad itself is nicely finished. The edges are rounded and don’t feel sharp anywhere, the surface itself feels extremely smooth and natural to the touch, and the whole surface is perfectly level. Obviously this isn’t a very portable mousepad, so if you’re someone who is always gaming in different locations you should really consider if it’s worth the hassle to transport it all the time, but if you decide that it is you can rest assured that it’s decently sturdy. I didn’t throw it to the floor or anything, but I treated it like I would any regular (hard) mousepad and it stood up to that just fine.

The SkyPAD 3.0 is built for speed, and our testing and my personal experiences can attest to the fact that the brand has succeeded on this front. This is without a doubt the fastest pad I’ve ever laid my hands on. If you keep your fingers off of the surface itself, it almost feels as if your mouse is gliding in thin air. There’s really nothing stopping your mouse except for your own hands, and that’s a feeling that takes some getting used to.

A glass mouse pad is not the stupidest thing you could spend $100 on.

Since speed is key you hear people rave about their Artisan Hien or their MPC450 but the newest addition to the fast mousepad market is even more alluring since it is as close as you can get to the endgame for the foreseeable future.

Something else that can get annoying is the sound. When you swipe and put down your mouse on a cloth pad you might hear a muted thud that doesn’t really bother anyone, but the SkyPAD is definitely a loud one. It’s not as loud as someone who’s going to town on a glass cutting board or anything like that, but if someone was using this near me while I was trying to work or relax it would definitely bother me. That’s doesn’t necessarily have something to do with the performance of the product, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’ve got housemates to consider. But what I did learn is that this company sells multiple styles of "gaming sleeve" with the main selling point being: Fast mousepads have become popular among gamers and if you are a regular on r/MousepadReview you probably see a bunch of people describe their amazing experiences with fast surfaces daily. Will seriously look into this and burst out tap measure to see if the medium one will fit my size requirement. Fits well with the color scheme of rest of my setup too. SkyPAD is one of those companies offering a premium mousepad, and the SkyPAD 3.0 is aimed at those who desire speed above all else. This mousepad is already somewhat of an outlier due to the fact that it’s a hard pad in a world of cloth, but the fact that it’s made out of glass makes it even more unique. SkyPAD is offering an infinitely durable pad that gives you virtually no resistance when gliding, and we’ve sent one over to our reviewer to see if that holds true.

I've tried to convince myself to switch to something else multiple times in the past decade+, but there is no suitable alternative because I need something small-ish to fit my desk space setup, and I actually like the cool feeling of glass, and the relatively ease to clean. That plus the Icemat just wouldn't damn break. Why would it though since it's just a slab of glass. The Mousepad 3.0 is made of tempered glass, but is “incredibly durable,” according to the company (which also told me to go ahead and drop it on the floor from varying heights). I happen to live in a factory-converted-loft with polished concrete floors, however, so I decided against haphazardly tossing it onto my floor... just in case it happened to break. I did consider taking it outside and dropping it on the street, but that didn’t seem very environmentally-friendly (even if I do live in downtown Los Angeles where the streets are full of broken glass anyway). PRECISION GAMING | The specially treated glass surface is optimized for laser and optical gaming mice, for fast and precise mouse movements SOLID AND DURABLE | The texture of the glass does not wear out like on a normal mouse pad. The mouse pad is therefore incredibly durable - with Skypad you have a gaming mouse pad for your entire lifeSkypad’s regular Mousepad 3.0 is a much more manageable size. It’s quite a bit smaller than the Atlas, and is what most people would probably consider a “standard” or medium-sized mouse pad. Because it’s glass, it doesn’t feel quite as small as a similarly-sized cloth mouse pad, since smaller swipes go further. It’s also not quite as smooth as the Atlas, so I did find myself moving my mouse over a larger area than I did with the Atlas (but still smaller than with a non-glass mouse pad). What I’m trying to say is that if you’re used to larger mouse pads, you’ll probably still have an adjustment period if you move down — the Mousepad 3.0’s glass surface doesn’t completely negate the size. So the verdict? I'm loving it so far. The texture is smoother and quieter. The sound it makes is just a lot more pleasing to the ear than version 2.0, but it is still noisier than other hard pads although it doesn't bother me at all. The 2.0 was not. It's thin enough that it doesn't bother my forearm on the edge. Using a sleeve is necessary to me if any important aiming is involved. Lastly the speed. Is it 50% faster than the 2.0? It definitely feels like it compared to the 'slow' 2.0 that I had. I'm using a set of new corepads. I would say it feels just as fast as using G Float ceramic feet with a new polycarbonate pad. Very little static friction. It's so smooth too. As Shidenkai is actually discontinued, and the new one is still not available, what do you suggest? Cleaning, you will have to clean it because of body oils, smudges, finger prints at least every 2 days. But I do notice that my gaming kids all seem to use pads on their wooden tables, so I guess in a professionally competitive environment you need to trade comfort for precision and speed.

Ah and yes, with ceramic tiles on the floor, I'd hate indistructible pads and tiles have go at each other: either winner would have me loose something... The SkyPAD 3.0 is the fastest pad I’ve ever tested, and if you are looking for a frictionless gliding experience this could really be it. It does come with a number of caveats, however. The pad’s hard and extremely smooth surface is completely unforgiving towards inconsistencies, be it with your mouse skates or your surface (think hairs, dander, …) so you will want to keep a cloth handy. Make sure it’s not a wet cloth, though, since the surface obviously won’t handle humidity very well due to the fact that it can’t absorb any of it. And last, but not least, it’s also a very loud mousepad. It’s not that bad when just gliding around with your mouse, but if you’re often resetting your mouse after swiping there’s definitely a lot of noise going on. Of course one might say that a product at this price hasto come in a nice box, and I would agree. The SkyPAD is the most expensive mousepad I’ve ever tested, and with an MSRP of a whopping 120 dollars there’s not a lot of room for error with this product.Hey there guys, I was just wondering if anybody already have experience with the pulsar superglide mouse pad, and if so how would you compare it to a skypad 3.0 and or a artisan raiden mid. Would love to hear your thoughts This pad will punish your mistakes hard; BUT, it's not the pad's fault, it's yours. I play on a higher mouse sense than most people do and I had to lower my in-game sense about 10-20% on a few games because I was overshooting. Vì vân bề mặt được đốt trực tiếp lên kính giúp các vân control không bao giờ bị mòn đi so với các loại lót chuột cứng bằng nhựa khác. Since then I've preferred to go padless on a XXL wooden table I built and painted myself at the time, whose surface I actually expected having to repaint periodically, but it's held up just fine so far. And in terms of thermal conductivity and touch comfort wood is very hard to beat. Because the surface is so fast the SkyPad is not necessarily recommended for tactical shooters like CS:GO or Valorant but if you lower your sensitivity to the 43-62 cm range, even those games can be played competitively.
