About this deal

A brilliantly imaginative talent makes his exciting debut with this epic grimdark fantasy saga inspired by ancient Indian epic Mahabharata and filled with treachery, war and vengeance, in the tradition of Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen Series and George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire Series. Vermes, Géza (2004). The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English. Penguin Books. pp.164–165. ISBN 978-0-14-044952-5. The world of Sons of Darkness clearly does contain righteousness, self-sacrifice, virtuousness and hope. So you wouldn’t want a story that entirely ignores the possibility of those things but, speaking for myself, Sons of Darkness was always intended to sit somewhat on the other side of the scales from a lot of the simpler and righteous stuff which seemed to dominate the Indian fantasy fiction scene. And our Lord praised the evil steward, because he acted wisely, for “The children of this world in this their generation are wiser than the children of light.”

Strong's 3956: All, the whole, every kind of. Including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole. The master commended the dishonest manager because he acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their contemporaries than the people of light.Fantasy suffers from the same cultures explored, the same western histories interspersed into the stories over and over again, so we need books like the Sons of Darkness that build their stories from a different foundation. It was a refreshing read and also a crucial read for epic fantasy fans wanting to diversify their reading and shed light on new, upcoming authors from different areas of the world. When we call for variety on our shelves, books like this are important and should be consumed voraciously (especially when they are this good.)

And his master commended the unjust manager [not for his misdeeds, but] because he had acted shrewdly [by preparing for his future unemployment]; for the sons of this age [the non-believers] are shrewder in relation to their own kind [that is, to the ways of the secular world] than are the sons of light [the believers]. Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

Yadin, Yigael. “The Scroll of the War of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Darkness.” Translated by B. and C. Rabin. Oxford, 1962. And the lord commended the unjust steward, forasmuch as he had done wisely: for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light. Anjum Hasan on History's Angel “It’s important to remember that none of us are either victims or oppressors in the comic book sense” And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. After that bipolar invitation, if you are still prepared to dive head-first into a chasm of chivalry and cynicism, then all I ask you to do is- leave your helms behind. Strong's 3588: The, the definite article. Including the feminine he, and the neuter to in all their inflections; the definite article; the. Challenges? Not really. It was just a reflection of the world as it is around us. Disillusioned. Amoral. Dishonest. But somewhere within, a bit of hidden good. The master praised his dishonest manager for looking out for himself so well. That's how it is! The people of this world look out for themselves better than the people who belong to the light. My favorite non-pov (or minor pov) character is Satyabhama. Krishna's wife, she is, in her own right, a great warrior and perhaps the best in Mathura. She also is the leader of the Silver Wolves; a group of discarded daughters who she nurtured and turned into a squad of elite soldiers. A calm, composed, women with an intimidating presence. She is the source of inspiration and respect for many and a great example on how someone can be a loving figure and a badass.a b Wenthe, Dean O. (November 1998). "The Use of the Hebrew Scriptures in 1QM". Dead Sea Discoveries. 5 (3): 290–319. doi: 10.1163/156851798X00145. Sons of darkness smashes open the fountain of originality, spilling insidious plot, incredible characters, and grim violence. I loved this book. Described as the Indian ASoIaF, it has feuding families, politics, war, and deceit in equal measures, but tops this with inspired world-building and a plot that starts as embers and ends as a blazing inferno. Wise, Michael O.; Abegg, Martin G.; Cook, Edward M. (25 October 2005). "The Dead Sea Scrolls: A New Translation". Harper Collins. pp.368–371. ISBN 0-06-076662-X. Two time periods have been put forward and defended as the most probable time of composition: the Seleucid period and the Roman period. [3] The Seleucid period proposals include the very beginning of the Maccabean Revolt (165 or 164 BCE), the height of Jonathan's military power (143 BCE), and the reign of John Hyrcanus (135–104 BCE). [4] Scholars who believe the scroll was composed during the Roman period propose a date from the middle of the 1st century BCE to the first decade of the 1st century CE. [4] The War Scroll's description of the weaponry and tactics led Yigael Yadin to assign the composition of the scroll to a date between the capture of Jerusalem by Pompey (65 BCE) and the death of Herod (4 BCE). [1] More recently, author Russell Gmirkin disagrees with Yadin's analysis and assigns the weaponry described in the War Scroll to the 2nd century BCE. [5] Lt. Col. Peter Fromm (US Army Ret.) sides with Gmirkin also assigning the army and weaponry described in the War Scroll to the 2nd century BCE. [6]
