About this deal

A group of us are all reading this at the moment as part of our newly formed and made up book club and honestly we couldn’t have chosen a better book to start with… this is serious belly laugh, snort out loud material… we can’t put it down!!! EVERY GIRL NEEDS TO READ THIS!!!’

Recently, on the gogglebox, there have been some howlers posing as provocative television drama that are about as edgy as Classic FM. First of all, this looked like it was written by a young teenage girl, who doesn't really know how intercourse happens. Not to mention, they didn't even use condoms....... or lube in one scene.I found her attitude really toxic. Her so-called best friends seemed to encourage her shenanigans instead of helping her to be a better person, as usual. I don't even know why her sister's character is there because she does not contribute to the plot in any way except for their so-called weekly breakfasts which in reality are occasional breakfasts/brunches. Several of my female friends have relayed tales of meeting blokes who think that the simple act of agreeing to go on a date is a contractual guarantee of sex.

The only positivity that I found in this story was during the last 15% of the book. At long last, after pushing through almost two torturous book readings (book 1 + this book 2), the FMC learns about body positivity. That & the fact she finally took charge of her career earned this book the 2 ⭐ Oh! Also because she found herself a truly good man at the end & did not make a hare-brained choice like always. Also, the title itself is slightly misleading, as the characters spend in Dubai no more than three days and honestly, not that much happens there. I understand it with the plot development, but still.

The internal nastiness of the teachers who were jealous of Chalmers popularity spreads, the involvement of a nasty reported out move on the edge of outright accusation, the encouragement of a relative of Julie Donaldson to vandalize Chalmers home and frighten his wife and newborn, the brutal abuse of Kyle Kerrigan's criminal father all factor into the suspense and creative development of this distasteful tale. Maggie and Sandie, her friend, are loyal to Eric and she is particularly upset by the effect of the accusation and murder on her students. The ongoing contentious relationship with the DCI and incompetence of Detective Superintendent Mark Mitchison is also disturbing, given the commendation that has been presented to Lorimer following his last case resolution. Meet Zara Smith: 29, single and muddling her way through life as a trainee nurse in Glasgow. With 30 fast approaching, she’s determined to do whatever it takes to find love – or at least someone to sext! Cheered on by best friends Ashley and Raj, Zara embarks on a string of dating escapades that are as hilarious as they are disastrous. From online dating to blind dates, hometown hook-ups to flirty bartenders, nothing is off limits. A Glasgow Kiss, which follows the life of singleton, Zara, and her journey into the weird and wonderful world of online dating, was published on December 14.

There’s nothing romantic about dating…

There isn't even any real mystery to the story as we know the main suspects, Kyle and Eric, can't be guilty of the murders as the killer is someone Julie didn't know, and the perpetrator is just some random guy who comes into the story near the end when the time comes to wrap things up. Something i really couldn't believe about the novel was that since Eric wasn't guilty of the murders he was presumed not guilty of the rape either, even though that was a totally separate case that came along first! Why??? I mean, true that his guilt or innocence could never have been proved after Julie died, but why exonerate him completely? I felt that this, along with every other issue raised in the novel was handled in a cold, callous manner, perhaps in the imperosnal way to be expected from a murder mystery, but what gets me is that this book thinks it is humanising its characters and treating them with respect. Some might consider that it was a term popularised across the nation thanks to a certain string-vested Glaswegian street philosopher called Rab C Nesbitt in the late 80s and early 90s. Let’s start with the FMC Zara, I’m sorry to say everything about her annoyed me. She was so needy for love, she had no respect for herself and as much as I can handle that sometimes she was just missing some feisty spunk. She needed to have more of a voice and actually stand up for her self!
