About this deal

This the simplest user menu I’ve seen, it’s very easy to remember, it doesn’t have complicated sub-menus and most of those settings are set and forget. With an option for Bluetooth connection, the A30 makes for a comprehensive solution as an integrated amplifier.

2021 LOXJIE D30 ES9068AS MQA HIFI Digital Audio DAC

Ce petit appareil a un excellent rapport qualité/prix. Le design est sobre et efficace. La finition est très bonne même s'il faut être évidemment précautionneux, notamment avec le connecteur USB-B. La restitution sonore est de qualité. Thus said, with easy to drive earphones or headphones, like the Meze 99 NEO, the performance is up to the task and the user shouldn't be worried about adding an external amplifier. Based on my experience with class D amplifiers, they tend to be colder, drier, and more controlled sounding. There is also a slight compression to the presentation. To some extent, the A30 doesn’t stray away from those characteristics. Where the A30 tends to have a drier presentation while maintaining good control over the drivers of both speakers and headphones.

Loxjie D30 Technical Specifications

Guitars and vocals images a bit further leaving some microdetails smoothed over. And similar to the midrange of the DX3 Pro+ there is no added sweetness or flavor. Unfortunately i missed to buy a D30 and i have to search an other model. I would like to buy a dac with AKM in similar price. Whilst both DAC/Amps have a similarly smooth treble presentation, cymbal hits on the EX5 have more bite but still retain a similar level of shimmer and texture. This results in the EX5 veering towards some sibilance, but based on my experience, both the D30 and EX5 typically won’t get too fatiguing anyway. There are 4 rubber feet underneath it, those are simply glued to the case, there aren’t cut-outs in the metal case and I’m fine with that as long as its price doesn’t go up.

It is my first time hearing a Loxjie product and an ES9068AS implementation and I have to say that the D30 performs well although is softer than I expected. While D30 is winning a lot of ground when it comes to stage size and air around the notes, it is losing a bit of focus and contour of the notes. Like everything is slightly less controlled, less focused and clean sounding. In the living room, the shape of notes was never razor sharp, their contour was less defined and there was a very thin veil all over my music on the Buchardt S400 loudspeakers. Overall, as an entry-level device it sounded bigger and wider than I expected, it was weird experiencing all that from a device this small. Treble has a decent presence and a good extension even in the highest octaves, but it would not outperform entry-level ESS-Sabre DACs in this regard. That Texas Instruments op-amp is actually giving a huge helping hand in this region. D30 has a nice the treble extension, as I still hear driver movements even past top octave. With all that said, D30 is smoother and more relaxed in here. Treble sharpness is not an issue on this DAC, problem is that sometimes I want my treble defined and sharp and D30 can’t really do that. I consider it rolled-off by a small margin in here, it will not lure your attention to its treble performance, as it will shine bright mostly in the midrange and mid-bass sections, about this I’m very sure. The T8V is too large for my room (3,6x6m; 11,8x19,7ft). And T8V is more expensive with 160dollars than T7v (in pair). Lastly I believe just getting A30 is also an option, but I cannot find A30 operate as DAC with FIXED RCA output to the Edifiers, so that's a challenge? The 2021 LOXJIE D30 ES9068AS MQA HIFI Digital Audio DAC & Headphone Amplifier BT 5.0 is a high-quality digital audio device that features ESS’s 32bit stereo audiophile DAC chip with MQA full decoding and MQA-CD support by Optical and Coaxial inputs. This device is designed to satisfy demanding audio enthusiasts with its great performance. The headphone amplifier section on the EX5 is rated for significantly more power with a 3W output rating into a 32Ω load. However, both DAC/Amps can easily drive most of my headphones to sufficiently loud levels. Design There is no forwardness and weight when listening to lyrics as it blends in the same distance with instruments forming a cohesive timbre that does not twist the midrange to sound artificially good or full. Although there is an indication of a deficit in executing emotive ballads losing its emotions on breathiness and vocal features.

Layering within the soundstage isn’t the A30’s strong suit, so some images will not go deep into the soundstage. While there is some layering within the soundstage, the images don’t venture too deep into the soundstage creating a more compressed imaging presentation. DAC Input Incorporating a second-generation XMOS USB controller and ESS ES9068AS, the D30 is capable of supporting up to 32BIT/768kHz PCM and DSD512 signal similar to the DX3 Pro+. The more balanced presentation allows Poseidon’s more dynamic character to shine through. This pairing also does well in casting an expansive soundstage while creating accurate images within the soundstage. While the bass is generally extended, there is an evident midbass hump that adds more weight to each bass note. This also allows drum hits to have more body and texture, while still generally maintaining control over the bass common to most class D amplifiers. When it comes to sound via Bluetooth, it sounded even smoother this way, it was softer around the edges, lusher and even calmer than via USB or Optical. It was losing a bit of details, but not a lot of them. It can work pretty well via Bluetooth while casually listening around your house with some powered speakers attached to it, but if we are talking about real Hi-Fi, then you should probably use it only via its USB input, which sounded the best to me. I was slightly let down that it is not supporting AptX-HD and LDAC codect, which are sounding much closer to its wired performance, but again, it’s an entry level device and should be treated as such.ITX PC / WiiM Pro - Mola Mola Makua - Apollon NCx500+SS2590 - Thiel CS3.7 => (loading) March Sointuva AWG I was weighing between because MX5 provides many things in one. So if I were to use it in the future for passive speakers I can continue to benefit from MX5. I have seen quality issues in e.g. Topping DX3Pro+ volume controls.

I love that it has an included mains power supply so you don't have to deal with an external supply: Despite the deceptively small frame, the A30 can truly be classified as an integrated amplifier. For inputs, the A30- is equipped with both analog and digital inputs. My Android smartphone is Bluetooth 5.0 enabled, it supports all the nicest Bluetooth codecs, including AptX-HD and LDAC, that sadly D30 can’t receive nor decode. To connect to it, you simply need to select its BT input and with your smart device connect to the LOXJIE BT5.0B and it will be ready to play some tunes wirelessly. Encountering zero problems playing MQA made me feel right at home pushing master quality files to the D40 with no extra effort required. The assigned LED for MQA will light up to a blue or violet hue depending if the unfolding is fully left to the hardware of the D40 or if the signal has been already unfolded through software. The sound impressions done with the A30 were completed using the analog inputs and output combined with the D30 DAC using either speakers or headphones. All impressions are with the A30 set in direct EQ mode. Summary The spectrum shows the typical signature of this codec with filtering of frequencies above 5 kHz. We have lost some 50 dB in fidelity versus uncompressed as well. Noise has sharply increased. The review sample was kindly provided free of charge in exchange for my honest and subjective evaluation.
