They’re still hardly remarkable – this is unmistakeably a budget camera setup, and we’d have rather seen one or two better lenses than the four forgettable ones here, but performance is respectable in decent lighting conditions, and there’s also scope to record 4K video at 30fps. With good light and a steady hand, the Galaxy A32 5G’s macro lens can take a decent shot. My best test photos, captured after lots of trial and error, were flat with some loss of fine detail. The worst were a gauzy, impressionistic mess. Battery life also impresses, and it’s more powerful than you might expect. Elsewhere, it’s less impressive, but generally ‘good enough’ for the money. That’s true of the design, screen, and cameras. Also, while most pricier Samsung phones have AMOLED screens, this uses TFT LCD, which doesn’t typically offer as good contrast. So if anything performance here is a bit better than you might expect for the money – a feat that was presumably achieved because MediaTek chipsets are likely cheaper than Snapdragon ones.

Otherwise, the plastic body and chassis should handle minor dings and drops without much damage. So should the Gorilla Glass 5 display panel, which is uncommon for phones in this price range—most use the significantly inferior Gorilla Glass 3. The Galaxy A32 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G chipset along with 4GB of RAM. There’s 64GB of storage, with about 46GB available out of the box; if that’s not enough, you can add up to an additional terabyte of external storage with a microSD card. But with 5G, a speedy chipset, and a battery that’s big enough to keep up, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G definitely seems to put performance – and price – ahead of everything else. So if that’s the balance you’re looking for then it won’t disappoint.
