About this deal

After evaluating my options, I decided on the Hibiki Master Select because of its unique and captivating character. Compared to the Harmony, this selection exudes a much more vibrant persona. The Harmony expression blends 5 different malt and grain whiskies from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita Distilleries as well as others from around Japan. This results in an incredibly complex flavour profile featuring notes of tropical fruits, citrus zest, gingerbread spice and coconut.

Wagu beef is a succulent, flavourful cut of steak originating from Japan that features an ultra-rich marbling. Its distinctive texture and taste make it the ideal companion for Hibiki Harmony’s complex flavour profile. The combination of flavours and aromas are remarkable, fusing together in a perfect union. Take a whiff, and you’ll be treated to sumptuous plums, delightful syrup, fragrant roses, and sweetness from the wood. The new expression will be brought to life in November through a hero activation at London Heathrow T5, in partnership with Avolta (formerly Dufry).Hibiki Harmony Master Select is the perfect companion for spicy dishes. Harmonising the sweet and spice of a meal, it adds complexity to your palate. Hibiki Master Select is a premium whisky with an unequivocally remarkable character and bold flavour. Each sip will be like embarking on a journey of discovery as you uncover the depths of its savoury nuances, making it the ideal indulgence for aspiring connoisseurs. The name Hibiki means "resonance" in Japanese. Suntory Whisky Hibiki resonates with the subtleties of nature infused by the twenty-four seasons of Japan's traditional calendar and reflected in the twenty-four facets of its bottle's design. The liquid is gold in colour and features enticing aromas that symbolise the spirit of ‘Wa’, or oneness, the brand owner said. It offers notes of kumquat and jasmine with Japanese incense. The notes of orange marmalade and dark chocolate give a lovely sweetness that pairs well with sashimi and nigiri. The tropical fruits and citrus zest bring out the juicy flavours in salmon, while the gingerbread spice adds a hint of warmth. Meanwhile, smoky malt accents provide an extra layer of depth that rounds off each bite perfectly. Sashimi The liquid is amber in colour, and offers notes of rose, lychee, a hint of rosemary, mature woodiness and sandalwood on the nose. On the palate, it offers aromas of honey-like sweetness, candied orange peel and white chocolate. The finish is both subtle and tender with a hint of Mizunara.

Established in 1989 to commemorate its 90th Anniversary, the Hibiki Range is a true embodiment of whisky excellence. From Master Select and Harmony varieties that boast unparalleled flavor profiles perfect for any special occasion or just an indulgent treat – it’s easy to see why these whiskies are beloved by many. With meticulous precision, we managed to harness the challenging-yet-rewarding characteristics of Japanese Mizunara oak to accentuate the unique flavour profile for which our Hibiki whiskies are known. This special whisky showcases our continued dedication to craftsmanship at the House of Suntory.” Finally, Hibiki 21 Year Old will also be highlighted at a high-profile pop-up at Frankfurt Airport in December, in partnership with Gebr. Heinemann, created to celebrate the House of Suntory’s 100 th anniversary. Finish: Short, but longer than regular Harmony. Nutmeg. Bitter apple. That ginger-like note from the palate is prominent, with a vague wet cardboard note. The oaky bitterness lingers the longest – rather unpleasant, frankly. Again, the complexity is up a bit, but this is the most disappointing part of the experience.
