About this deal

The results were better than I could have possibly imagined. Application takes time and is messy, so be prepared for that and lay sheets! Follow the instructions and work in small areas, use tool kit you buy separately. PaintWell increased its Industrial Paints offering with the acquisition of Promain UK Limited, the preferred UK distributor for many of the world’s leading paint and surface coatings manufacturers. Please note that during particularly busy periods, it may take a little longer to receive your delivery and our carrier may attempt to deliver to you on a Saturday. Faster Delivery As for recommending it I'd say a definite NO, it's basically a large tub of Polyfilla and unless you have arms like Lou Ferrigno it'll take some considerable time to apply and smooth over. Perhaps for small areas it'll work but large areas don't give yourself the stress of seeing it fail unless like me you've got a lot of patience..

Having recently re-skimmed my lounge walls perfectly I decided to do the ceiling but with deteriorating eyesight and aching arms it wasn't the best finish, so I decided to iron out the pits and trowel scrapes and try the Polycell Smoothover paint. Once down to about a third of the tub left I decided to chance my arm with an idea and added a small amount of water to thin it somewhere between double and single cream consistency. This was extremely easy to apply and much better to manipulate. I did the entire ceiling and thankfully due to thinning it out I was able to smooth it over with plenty of time. It dried well and though I've had to do a fair bit of sanding it finally looks good only through my own improvisation. Larger items over 30kg can only be delivered Monday to Friday. Please allow up to two working days for these deliveries. Due to time & dust issues (2 kids to think about) I will probably go to a plasterer for the rest downstairs but it has been an interesting project (apart from the peeling paint bit) I didn't really have the money or the time to wait for a plasterer to repair the wall. I needed to get the room decorated so it could be moved into. So, without expecting much, I decided to give it a go.Please note some larger products are delivered to kerb-side (the street outside your home), it is at the drivers discretion if they can deliver the item to another location on the property.

Due to its expert technical knowledge of the technologies and materials available across the industry, Promain has a reputation for outstanding service among its trade and retail customers. I had a good look on here for an alternative to smooth over as it was going to end up too expensive to do the whole house this way & I would be just as well getting a Plasterer in to skim the lot. I tried Gyproc joint filler & it seems to be just a good if not better & is far, far cheaper only prob is it is light tan in colour & if touching up a white painted wall/ceiling it is harder to cover with paint so I just now use the white smoothover for the finishing touches I ended up with a really good smooth wall using a 500w halogen light for seeing all the imperfections but I did find though that although I had covered all the digs/dents when it came to painting I had pin holes that I thought would fill with paint but didn’t (tried Polycell base coat & Polycell flexible ceiling paint but they didn’t really make much difference)Hope you get on well but if its a near full skim you need then I don't think Smoothover is the most cost/time effective way, small patches yes, full skim no. (that probably goes for easyfill/skim etc unless you have all the right gear & can use it well) We will be happy to organise an exchange for the correct goods at no extra charge to yourself, please get in touch to organise this. We deliver to most Home Hardware Stores. Please view our store locator to find your local Home Hardware store. My house is nearly 70 years old & I initially went down the smoothover route as I had the whole house to do and the walls were in very good condition apart from a few digs & scrapes as it was a well kept one owner house with only one layer of wall paper & the original ceiling paint underneath. Larger items over 30kg can only be delivered Monday to Friday. Please allow up to two working days for these deliveries. Saturday Delivery Working days are defined as Monday-Friday 8am-7pm inclusive, excluding Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.
