About this deal

Well, in my opinion, the Viltrox is head and shoulders sharper than the fuji, that's not just in the centre but unbelievably sharper at the edges too. Other optical traits include good contrast and color rendering. There is very slight barrel distortion but nothing that is an issue. There is also vignetting at wide open aperture, which is to be expected. Stopping down to just f2, reduces vignetting quite a bit. By f4 it’s practically non-existent. Nothing out of the ordinary here. As for flare, the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 XF lens has HD Nano multi-layer coating applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity. It seems to work because none of this was an issue while I was using it. Let me know your guys thoughts. These aren't scientific by any means, and I still have time to return the Viltrox so I may do more tests. As for the chromatic aberration, I hardly notice it. I think the lens did a good job of controlling it. It does help us to reduce one task in our post-processing. LEFT: Fuji X-E4 . Sigma 30mmF1.4 @30mm . f/1.4 . 1/14000″ . ISO 320 . Classic Neg As for accessories, the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 XF lens comes in a nice box, and there’s even a cloth pouch for the lens. There’s also a lens hood that is included. It can be reverse mounted for easy storage with the lens.

Review: The Viltrox AF 23mm f/1.4 for Fujifilm X is a Superb

There’s only a mild touch of barrel distortion, even without using in-camera correction. It’s refreshing to find a new lens designed for mirrorless cameras that doesn’t rely heavily on an artificial fix. Verdict Coming from a guy who likes to shoot streets with 23mm and 35mm focal lengths, I am able to adapt the Sigma 30mm f1.4 very well. In these 2 weeks of loan, I do not find much of a challenge using this lens except for the above-mentioned issue. Fuji X-T3 . Sigma 30mmF1.4 @30mm . f/1.4 . 1/2700″ . ISO 160 . Post-edited For example, when I’m shooting portraits of a couple during a portrait session it’s nice to get some of that flare in your image at times, but if I’m shooting a formal group photo at a wedding then flare can be a real nuisance. So definitely something to be wary of, but can be used to create stunning images too conclusionA lot of us love large maximum aperture lenses but they are, often times, a lot more expensive. I feel the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 kind of levels the playing field a bit. This is a decent lens that offers a lot, and costs less than even Fuji’s own 23mm f2 version. That’s pretty cool in my book, and don’t forget, this lens also has autofocus as well. So, if you’re looking for a 35mm equivalent lens, and want a large maximum aperture without a heft price tag, the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 is a great option to consider. Second, there is a fair bit of vignetting noticeable in mid-tone corner areas. Again, this was noticeable in the rear screen preview. I generally add a bit of vignetting to most photos, so this was not too much of an issue in my experience, and in the situations where it was, I framed a little wide, so I could crop out the vignette-affected area in Lightroom.

Viltrox AF 23mm F1.4 Z review | Digital Camera World

I don't think it makes any sense what you're doing because these lenses were tested on very different cameras. The Fuji lenses were tested on an older 16mpix body while the viltrox was tested on the newest generation 26mpix body. So especially things like resolution can't be compared afaik. Something is wrong here. Despite 1/5800 shutter speed,* the camera is moving left to right during the exposure. Take a look at several water birds on the left side. That kind of destroys any sharpness in the greenery, I think. I've taken a series of images with the fuji f1.4 and the same with the Viltrox 23mm lens so you can see the results for yourself and compare the two. I agree with Samuel Lucifer: I think it's too late and not that useful anyway. Lots of people might appreciate cheaper options but others might prefer Fuji lenses. I would not buy the Sigma 16mm f1.4 if I can find a used Fuji version at a decent price. The Sigma looks bigger and uglier... I think chances of Sigma actually start making lenses for the X-Mount are becoming less. They seem to be just too late, making it difficult to be sustainable on the long run.It is an interesting comparison. On the one hand I realized I wasted too much time looking for news about these Viltrox lenses. I should have just listened to the people who say Fuji make great lenses.
