Like some others have said, there's a lot of empty wax on the records - I wonder if it could have been organized differently or at a different speed to make use of all the wax. This move has been praised by various publications, including Pitchfork, which said that it was "ultimately better-suited" than the original. Stylus Magazine ranked the album number 13 on their list of the top 50 albums of 2000–2005, praising Madlib's production, based on "an endless supply of funk, soul, and jazz samples", and stating that the album was "displaying the future of hip-hop". For other young people who aren't used to abstract hip hop, I would recommend giving every song multiple chances, instead of listening to a song once, deciding it's bad, and never coming back to it. I handed all the beats to DOOM years ago, but ever since he’s been in Europe, he’s been hard to get a hold of.

Their only album, Madvillainy (2004), earned critical acclaim and cult popularity, widely regarded as one of the greatest rap albums of all time and a benchmark record for alternative hip hop. Fourteen months before the album was released, an unfinished demo version was stolen and leaked onto the internet. Madlib's beats are the best; the crazy experimental sampling with memorable and catchy sounds and melodies are perfect. In 2019, MF Doom raised hopes for new Madvillain music by telling Spin that he and Madlib had recorded “three or four” albums worth of material. In the video he praised Doom, saying that "he rhymes as weird as I feel", and recited some of Doom's lines, including the ones from Madvillainy.V. Club, the album "has attained mythic status; its legend has grown in proportion to its relative unavailability". compared to my digital files, the vinyl does not have as much punch but it is still a record I would play. Madlib is a freaking awesome producer, going above and beyond what's normally expected from the men behind the boards. People were approaching Doom and Madlib at shows to tell them how much they liked the album, so they were like, 'Fuck it, I'm done.
