About this deal

The title, If All the World and Love Were Young, comes from a pastoral poem by Walter Raleigh, while the poems themselves follow the structure of Super Mario World, each section named after a level of the game.

If all the World were Paper" was first published by John Playford as a round dance for eight persons in his English Dancing Master (1651) and in subsequent editions of the long-running Dancing Master series through the tenth edition of 1698. There has, however, been criticism of the theory by some psychologists who believe it overlooks wider factors that contribute to human behaviour. If All the World and Love Were Young is a collection of poems structured around Nintendo’s classic Super Mario World. As decomposition slowly detonated this ticking carbon bomb, the Earth would transform into a “vastly” warmer planet, Crowther says – the likes of which we haven’t experienced since before trees evolved. I wasn't thrilled with the grandfather's remark at the beginning of the book that the little girl is too old to hold hands - is one every too old for such a thing?Around the world, those whose work revolves around trees – whether as loggers or paper-makers, fruit growers or carpenters – would suddenly be jobless, devastating the global economy.

Ten of the Best: books starring children from BAME backgrounds: 'Coelhomasterfully manages to strike the delicate balance between mourning the passing of a loved one and celebrating the gift of the life they lived and its legacy with moving sensitivity and care. Across the English-speaking world, new work in every genre is demonstrating impatience with older, static verse forms. Removing trees means losing huge amounts of land to the ocean,” says Thomas Crowther, a global systems ecologist at ETH Zurich in Switzerland and lead author of the 2015 Nature study.

This use of long lines paired with unusual imagery means the collection does not immediately yield its emotional weight to the reader. Colpoy’sillustrations enrich and deepen our connection with the weight of sadness and height of celebration.

The book does not describe explicitly how the child deals with the loss but we learn how she copes with it by watching the activities she's engages in after he's gone. With all trees on the planet wiped out, previously forested ecosystems “would become only a source of emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, rather than a sink,” says Paolo D'Odorico, a professor of environmental science at the University of California, Berkeley. Shifters lose the need for group identity because they no longer feel separate and so have no sense of fragility and insecurity.

He has been long-listed for The Carnegie Children's Award with his poetry collection 'Overheard In A Tower Block', which was also shortlisted for the CLPE CLiPPA Poetry Award and Longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards. In 2018, Prevedello and his colleagues found, for example, that overall species richness was 50 to 100% higher in areas with scattered trees than in open areas. The story here is poignant, and addresses a common childhood experience - the loss of a grandparent - with sensitivity and compassion.

When Stephen Sexton was young, video games were a way to slip through the looking glass; to be in two places at once; to be two people at once. That said, the theory could go some way to help explain why nationalism grows in times of crisis and uncertainty. For example, a farmer could graze cows or sheep on a field for one year, making use of their natural fertiliser while also giving the soil a rest. The realities of death and loss are brought gradually to the reader’s attention, allowing their impact to be experience on many different levels, such as the loss of an imagined future, the loss of faith in the body, the loss a companion, the loss of a way of being, the loss of family.I liked the poem about the uncle who was a miner, who died in Tasmania, as it creates an interesting parallel with Mario (who's a miner himself of sorts, isn't he? We meet the narrator’s mother in hospital, where the narrator feels, “I’ve been here so long I think I hear my children passing the door. It would also be followed by a nuclear winter scenario, in which particles of dust and ash sent skyward would enter the upper atmosphere, blocking sunlight and lowering temperatures globally for several years. Schweikhart’s perspective reminds us that we belong to the Earth rather than to a nation, and to a species rather than a nationality.
