About this deal

The DT-990 Pro benefits from a weight-reduced diaphragm for excellent sound reproduction and a wide frequency range between 5 and 35,000 Hz. I wouldn't recommend DT990 Pro for casual listening. Most of your favourite songs may be unbearable to listen to. Besides that, as long as you can still hear a high frequency range up to 16kHz as I do, this part of the spectrum will be always taking the space and in front position. The sound signature is of course harsh, if they need an equalizer to listen to music, but they tolerate it well. In this article, we’re going to break this test down into several key areas, which we feel are important factors to take into consideration when choosing a new set of studio-grade cans. Design And the hd-650? They clamp like crazy, I couldn't wear these for over 10 minutes, really uncomfortable.

In conclusion, the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones are suitable for solo listening as they do not offer noise isolation, and non-competitive gaming. The headphones are also great for bass-heavy music. We do not recommend these headphones for travel or outdoor use. Connectivity The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones come with a 3.5 mm connector and 1/4″ adapter. And well they do. I use them daily for the computer usage I described earlier. For a while I took them to school which they handled perfectly. They're sturdy with a metal frame but just light enough that long time wearing is still comfortable. The headphones with a circumaural design comprise a flexible headband with soft padding and mushy ear pads for a comfort-filled listening experience. The ear cups are large. The ear pads feel velvety and plush. We did not experience any sweating issues as we tested the headphones during the colder months; however, you may experience heating issues in summers. The headband that connects both the ear cups is mostly spring steel and the ear cups are made of plastic. Nevertheless, the plastic is sturdy and premium-quality. While the 990's are really similar, they are tighter on the ears, and I don't like that at all, but they are still quite comfortable. With that being said, I love the by some considered sharp highs of the dt-990's, everything sounds crystal clear, not "muddy" or "washed out". I listen to a lot of vocals so that's a must for me. But as I said, it ain't for everybody since some might say the highs are over saturated, and they are, but it sounds nice. It's something I'm looking for in headphones, are you looking for that? If not steer away from these headphones. Cons: they might be too sharp for some and too tiring if used in long sessions. Other cons are the fact that you can really hear if a song is mixed/mastered like shit, you can hear everything. I'm not gonna say sh*t like :"you suddenly hear instruments that you previously didn't hear" if you suddenly heard an instrument that you didn't hear before on decent headphones that's on you. But you definitely hear if someone didn't bother cleaning up the samples he used in his song, and you might need different headphones or speakers to enioy songs that are badly mixed. One other thing to consider is that the ribbed outer body of the ear cups let sound seep through its gaps – the ‘semi’ open design will share your playlist publicly if you choose to take these on your travels. As with other headphone models in the Beyerdynamic DT Series, the DT-990 comes with a fully replaceable part system so you can service your investment for years down the line. The DT 990 Edition headphones for use at home and the DT 990 PRO studio headphones: Soundwise, both models are identical as they feature identically designed acoustic transducers.

These headphones are available in two models with different impedance: 80 Ohms and 250 Ohms. On the one hand, the 80 Ohms model is suitable for a variety of studio applications; they are very versatile. On the other hand, the 250 Ohms model is professional-grade. The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohms Headphones are best for mixing and mastering in the studio. We were not surprised to learn that many popular DJs are using these headphones for mixing and mastering. We’ve also listed the DT 990 Pro as one of the best DJ headphones. Gaming The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones are ideal for gaming.

Frequently asked questions about the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO

Perhaps one of the defining features of the DT990s are the over-ear, padded velour ear pads which provide superior comfort for longer mixing and mastering sessions. However, if you regularly have lengthy listening sessions to your music, you will appreciate the work Beyerdynamic has put into their build: (replaceable) grey velour ear pads epitomise comfort, fitting snugly around your ears, while gently clasping your head with the right amount of snugness. The original Beyerdynamic DT-990 have been celebrated for their super transparent response and comfort over long listening sessions, and the Pro Edition further improves on these glorious cans. Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Studio Headphones Highlights My first impression when I played some music was like: "My ears! It hurts!" because of the amount of high-frequency content. This was the reason to do the first test with high-frequency rich genres like Trance and Techno. Average Headphone Calibration:Sonarworks provides a good list of average headphone calibration profiles that represent a general response curve characteristic for many popular headphone models. These are easy to use and do give n improved listing experience, but as these average profiles are only a broad representation, they do fall short of providing Reference with the best possible starting point compared to using individual calibrations.

Now that I'm wearing these headphones for 6-8 hours a day I do begin to notice the weight but it is not neccesarely disturbing. The individual calibration by Sonarworks of the DT990s does a great job of reining in the top end brightness, providing a much flatter response that I found instantly trustworthy and clear. For decades our PRO headphones have been the reference for professional sound in recording studios all over the world. That leaves only one question: Which headphones are the right ones for you? For decades now, professional users all around the world have placed their trust in our classic range: DT 770/880/990 PRO. These benchmark-setting studio headphones, available in three different models, boast extremely detailed resolution and very transparent sound. They are one of the most comfortable headphones with a cushioned headband, and large ear cups. The ear cups are covered with a soft and plush material. If you prefer a tight fitting, you may find the clamping force a little weak. There are fundamentally two differences between the models. Firstly, the Edition models have asofter headband for enjoying music at home whereas the PRO headset has a slightly firmer fit. Secondly, the Edition models come equipped with a straight cable whereas the PRO models come with a coiled cable. Several years ago we reviewed and tested Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Softwareusing a set of KRK 8400, which came from Sonarworks with an individual calibration profile. The Headphone Calibration component in Reference and Systemwide software works in a similar way to the main Speaker Calibration section. Both aim to provide flat frequency response in monitoring, but unlike speakers, the user doesn’t have the means to measure the response of headphones. However, the good news is that Sonarworks offer several solutions to this: Sonarworks are currently offering 35% off a number of Beyerdynamic headphones with or without software and calibration. Until 25th February 2020, these particular headphones are available to buy direct from Sonarworks for €189 for the headphones only or €268 for the individual calibration bundle., which means you can get a calibrated pair for less than a normal pair.

Your one-stop solution to everything in the world of Headphones, Speakers, Audio Equipment and more! Social Media Links Comfort: 5 stars - Pretty fluffy ear cups. I wear glasses and my deal breaker is that the headphones do not press my ears too hard against the frame of the glasses. I do however fear that during summer the ear cups will be a bit too warm. Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium review The ‘Premium’ version brings improvements to the original model, delivering across the board with good sound, comfort and build The spring steel headband means the ear cups can stretch out almost horizontal, too, so you will be hard-pushed to find a head size it doesn’t accommodate. I've had quite a few headphones over the years for computer usage (Netflix, Youtube and gaming and of course since this year Zoom calls). When my last pair broke because of poor building quality I just decided I needed a more decent pair. Also I wanted to use them for more quiet bass sessions. I never had a pair that could actually handle the sound of my bass well. So I figured, Studio headphones should do.The DT 990 PRO is an open dynamic headphone of exceptional quality suitable for the most demanding professional and audiophile applications. The reduced weight of the diaphragm and moving coil result in a similar pulse characteristic as electrostatic headphones, and in combination with a carefully tailored frequency response offer a natural and balanced sound. Soft ear pads and adjustable, sliding, earpieces together with a very flexible coiled cable ensure listening comfort during extended periods of use. Constructive disadvantage 990 - If you have a small head, watch how the headband presses the ear pads to your head. Some people may enjoy genres like Jazz, RnB etc. on those because of the wide stereo space. As long as it doesn't have exaggerated cymbals, you may be fine. If you prefer deeper, more towards mid and bass range sound, avoid DT990 at all costs.
