About this deal

SATA SSDs typically hit speeds of up to 500MB per second. (However, like NVME drives, performance can vary between individual models.) That may sound astonishingly slow, but compared to SATA HDDs, the difference is still like night and day—a 7,200 RPM hard-disk drive tops out around 160MB per second. Nearly everyone notices a material difference between an HDD and a SATA SSD during basic tasks like document editing or web browsing. It allows you to use both drives independently. Therefore, the M.2 RAID adapter will support and provide the TRIM you need to enhance the M.2 SSD stability. M.2 SSDs are reliable compared to the traditional hard drive. They do not degrade and will last for a longer period. Cons But in fact, the best SSDs on the market - M.2 form-factor SSDs - have already been around for a fair few years itself, and can now be bought at a pretty affordable price.

Another option is to install a pci-e x4 to multiple pci-e x1/x4 switch device. Sadly they're super rare or expensive.Your M.2 drive should now be recognised by Windows 10. Log into Windows 10, type ‘disk management’ into the Start search bar, and choose the option to create hard disk partitions.

Also, it enhances the file speed transfer to 6GBps. Note that a functional M.2 SSD will help you save on electricity bills since it consumes less power than regular platter drives. Besides, it is less bulky and reduces the number of cables required for connections. Having a dedicated workspace, setting priorities and eliminating distractions are just a few ways to increase productivity from home. Please note that it does not support M.2 NVMe. Additionally, it has connectivity issues with iMacs.

Bad Move, Microsoft...

The answer is no. M.2 is a form factor of SSDs so that question doesn’t really make sense. Still, the underlying confusion behind the question is understandable since M.2 SSDs are relatively new when compared to the other form factors of client SSDs. There are two types of M.2 SSDs, which are SATA and NVMe-based. They differ in storage technology and, depending on your needs and budget, they each have their individual pros and cons. Then IMO the simplest way is just using usb. It is cheap and it will work just as well as sata as long as you are not trying to install OS there. You have other options, however. Adapters exist that can allow connecting multiple ssd-s to single pci-e. To single lane even, if you do not mind the speed. Look for cards based on pci-e switches like ASM2824, ASM2812, ASM1812 or similar. Those are quite expensive though... Then you can install a (ideally low profile) sata controller and connect the sata controller to the pci-e x4 slot using a riser cable.. and you got yourself more sata ports.
