Our paint can only be used on a warm day with the temperature above 10°C and make sure there’s no rain forecast.
Old coating type finishes such as paints, varnishes and varnish type stains must be fully removed by sanding or with a product stripper / remover prior to painting. Where possible, preserve all sides including end grain prior to application of Ronseal Garden Paint Any instances of wet rot can be treated with Ronseal Wet Rot Wood Hardener, and any existing woodworm eradicated with Ronseal Woodworm Killer For best results, prime all wooden surfaces with Ronseal All Surface Primer and Undercoat - Exterior before applying Ronseal Garden Paint. Preparing TerracottaTerracotta pots and other surfaces may need a good sanding / wire-brushing as they are often treated or glazed to protect them from rain and frost damage. These treatments will reduce adhesion of the paint to the surface. Unfinished softwoods can be painted straight away as long as they do not have a previous wax, oil or silicone finish Make good any holes or minor imperfections with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler or Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler Weathered terracotta needs to be water-bead tested. If the water beads on the surface, sanding will be required to remove the surface coating before painting. If the water soaks in to the Terracotta, then the paint can be applied directly.
