About this deal

The Horn Book Guide described Once as "this is the rare Holocaust book for young readers that doesn't alleviate its dark themes with a comforting ending". He also tells the reader that he likes to make up stories and is considered by others to be quite good at it.

It pulled the reader into the lives of our characters and opens our eyes at the actual torture and persecution Jews and others suffered through. I'm very cruel) but I didn't mind in this book due to the idea that despite all the harm and hell, the world is suffering from, hope and kindness will always find some way, whether it's just a small amount or large.the book Now is the closest to the present where you can get in the series, Now Felix is already at an old age and has a granddaughter named Zelda.

When I told her I was going to leap ahead seventy years and have the story start on Felix’s eightieth birthday, her expression didn’t change and she didn’t say anything, but her eyes narrowed very slightly. Along the way he finds Zelda, a young girl who Felix discovers lying beside her dead parents in the midst of a burnt-down farmhouse. I was not prepared for the 70 year time jump, and it didn't work for me as the third book in the series. After the ending of the second book, I was expecting the story to continue on from there, where he was an 11 year old boy. When we meet her, Zelda is staying with her grandfather while her doctor parents are overseas on a mission. Neben Reise im August bisher mein Favorit, was Holocaustliteratur (für Kinder und Jugendliche) betrifft. The book itself is a quick, easy read that's absolutely guaranteed to keep you glued to it from the minute you read the very first sentence right to the end. A few seem to be inspired by real heroes of WWII, like Janusz Korczak who was a Polish-Jewish doctor and children’s author that helped run an orphanage for Jewish children, and ended up perishing along with them when they were taken to a concentration camp.

As long as we keep reminding ourselves about what happened, then maybe we stand a chance of not repeating our mistakes. I noticed in books 4-6 it's the rest of young Felix's story and at the beginning of AFTER he's 13 years old. Looking back now I'm wishing I had waited to pick this one up after I read the other 3 Gleitzman had written and gone back to a young Felix during the war and picking up a little after thr second book THEN.A bush fire of horrendous size, fury and speed tests the mettle of the two, and Gleitzman's description of it is brilliant in its realism. I liked this book but not as much as the other two, mainly because I liked Felix as a character and didn't have that same feeling for Zelda. After completing his high school education, Morris Gleitzman joined Canberra college where he majored in Professional Writing.
