I will gladly continue reading books by Lapena because I enjoy her solid writing, I just wish the endings brought a little more to the table. Patrick and Stephanie are enjoying life as new parents with their colicky twins, when some woman shows up and claims that Patrick killed his first wife. The story is a quick read and there is always a sense of tension and danger, with Erica in the picture. Stephanie had always been a little bit of a control freak, and she'd spent a lot of time on her birth plan, wanting everything to go just right.

True, the couple don’t get much sleep due to the babies’ colicky demands, but otherwise their lives are idyllic. Her contemporary series feature ex-cop Peter Marsh and Daughter and classic car detective Jack Colby, and she is currently working on a new series starring Cara Shelley who runs a café in the grounds of stately home Tanton Towers.I too believe that Ted went to Amy because 1) she understood on a certain level what he was going through, and 2) they had a very brief 'relationship" in college so she was the logical choice post-Sam.

However, the bulk of the story delivers; intriguing enough to keep going, and not 100 per cent predictable. A novel of domestic suspense with shifting POVs, The End of Her will have you questioning who to believe right up until the end. Patrick's job is suffering because of his sleep deprivation and Stephanie doesn't know how much longer she can go, never getting enough rest. Instead of soothing music, low lighting and controlled breathing, it was all beeping machines, dropping heart rates, swarming medical staff, and being wheeled hurriedly into the operating room. The babies are a handful, but even as Stephanie struggles with the disorientation of sleep deprivation, there's one thing she's sure of: she has all she ever wanted. Stephanie never would have thought her husband would be a murderer, but as more and more secrets come out, she can't help but question whether or not he's telling her the truth. And as last nail to the coffin: she tells that she and Patrick were in love and having affair behind his first wife’s back. She turns to face the fire and the flames are higher now, licking toward the ceiling, but the ceiling hasn't yet caught fire.
