About this deal

I've long really enjoyed Nordic Weasel's line of games, and the author is a top bloke besides, active on Twitter and always easygoing if you've got questions about how a rule is meant to be interpreted or if you're just looking for suggestions on miniatures.

Inspiration doesn’t have to come from sci-fi, and when someone suggested this idea to me it absolutely had to be included.I got them from Scotia-Grendel, but they were originally produced as part of the Harlequin, The Lord of the Rings line. Picking which one should be captain is a little tricky… but who am I kidding, it’s gotta be Gandalf. This boxed set offers enough parts to build 20 lightly equipped male characters for Stargrave, ideal for use in independent crews or as members of the pirate fleets hunting them down. In advance of the release, we want players to be battle-ready, so this week we are releasing the game’s Power Cards.

Looking at them lined up now, the Reaper hobbit looks a little more like a dwarf than a hobbit compared to Aragorn.Or, you know, they could just be quirky robot freebooters, looking to serve their own inscrutable interests. In a galaxy torn apart by the Last War, vast pirate fleets roam from system to system, robbing, extorting, and enslaving. One in which combat takes pride of place, but is ingrained within a wider fictional world, and is given meaning by player decision-making. The long is that they are in many ways quite similar, but approach the same essential goal of space opera gaming with a handful of miniatures and a minimum of table space in different ways that gives each their own distinct flavour and impression.

and I was thinking that termagaunts might be useful as the "insect-y humanoid foody thing" and the old purple worm makes sense as the 20-foot worms. After seeing you talk about Five Parsecs on twitter, I had a delve and ended up getting Five Leagues.Yes, they resurrected ideas that maybe I could do it with practice, but those whimsical daydreams must be squashed to protect my endangered bank balance. It was my chance to develop fun and clever ways to bend or break my own rules, to give players the chance to manipulate the game environment, and to allow the main characters to do some really cinematic stuff. The cost is not just that space these bulky and powerful items take up but that they will slow your space mercenary down. While this is the only Frostgrave book currently on the schedule, I am in discussions with Osprey on another one. That book-keeping becomes in itself a part of the tale you're writing with your heroes, and there are a few suggested victory conditions in the book as well as difficulty tweaks, space opera 'second chance' options for those characters you don't want to lose, and more besides.
