I read this book way before I had kids. I was a student teacher in my first job and I had never read it before. I can't tell you what a rookie mistake that was!! For a person to be fulfilled in life they have to achieve happiness. Happiness is the ultimate means in itself; it is the one thing that people universally strive towards. Love above all holds the most intrinsic value, and without love we cannot be fulfilled and achieve happiness. The ability of the father to display his affection to his mother and his daughter represent the happiness and fulfillment in his life.
