About this deal

In my review I’ve tested and compared both models, so read on to find out which is the best superzoom for you.

In terms of low light sensitivity, this Nikon Coolpix B700’s performance is more modest, generating rather soft, noise heavy results in the eyes of those schooled in more heavy duty devices, even when the camera is switched to dedicated night time shooting mode. Save still images while recording or during playback, connect to an HDTV with an optional HDMI cable, set autofocus to operate only when a subject moves and much more. Above: The quality of this interior low light panning clip, shot in the B700’s 1080 / 25p mode, is quite noisy, though to be fair the light levels were very low. With the mode dial in the Scene position you have a pretty wide choice of scene modes, many of which will be familiar to anyone who’s owned a point-and-shoot compact, for example Portrait, Landscape, Party, Beach, Snow, Food and Fireworks modes. This can eliminate the need for faster shutter speeds, preventing issues like improper exposure or over-increased sensitivity. These Download Terms and Conditions ("Agreement") constitute a legal agreement between you (either an individual or single entity) and Nikon Corporation or its associated company ("Nikon") setting forth the terms and conditions governing your download of the operation manual for our products (“Manual”). of seven metres, not at all bad though as it’s quoted with the ISO set to auto it’s not easy to make comparisons. Here’s a comparison showing the 900mm equivalent on the COOLPIX B500 alongside the 1440mm equivalent of the B700 taken from the same spot.

Where the cameras differ is in the optical zoom, with the FZ82 offering a wide-angle 20mm equivalent (vs 24mm on the B700), and the B700 offering a longer telephoto reach, with a 1440mm equivalent (vs 1200mm on the FZ82). Naturally the optical zoom here, with a lens construction comprising 16 elements in 11 groups, is image stabilized – with Nikon claiming its lens-shift based Vibration Reduction system provides the equivalent of five stops. Whilst we get self explanatory ‘display’ and red video record buttons towards the top of the Nikon Coolpix B700 back where they fall readily under the thumb, just below these are even smaller buttons for playback, as well as menu and a dedicated delete control. The Nikon Coolpix B700’s lens will focus as close as 1cm from a subject, however depth of field becomes very shallow at this extremely close distance. Nikon retain ownership of the Manual and all copies thereof and all related intellectual property rights, and reserves all rights not expressly granted to you under this Agreement. I tested SnapBridge on the B700 using my iPhone 6 and the process is almost as simple – instead of making contact with the two devices the app displays the camera name, which you tap to select, it then initiates pairing with displayed passcodes for you to confirm.

in LCD (with diopter adjustment) electronic viewfinder gives 100% of frame coverage, so you’ll always know exactly what you’re shooting. In fact, when you attempt to transfer photos in this way the SnapBridge app helpfully suggests you switch to a Wifi connection for faster transfers. A Super ED lens has advanced capabilities, including an extremely high ability to remove secondary spectra, offering superior chromatic aberration correction characteristics. This Agreement constitutes the complete and exclusive agreement, oral or written, between you and Nikon.stop Dual Detect Optical VR (Vibration Reduction) and side zoom control minimise camera shake, plus you can shoot with the electronic viewfinder or vari-angle LCD monitor. Plus, the whole time you're shooting, the COOLPIX B700 can be connected to a compatible smartphone through Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) technology for instant photo sharing and remote camera control. Capture wildlife from a safe distance, shoot stars in the night sky, or take impressive shots at sporting events with the outstandingly long-range 60x NIKKOR zoom lens, extendable to 120x Dynamic Fine Zoom.
