About this deal

The shaft is strong yet lightweight like the motor and the whole strimmer only weighs just over 5kg. This makes it easy to move around and control with the compact D-shaped loop handle without the need for a harness, although I’d still recommend using one if you’re doing anything but the smallest of jobs. If you look around, you can probably get a free harness when you buy one of Ryobi’s attachments. The rear handle can rotate to 5 pre-set positions depending on the angle you want to hold the trimmer, from 0, 45, and 90 degrees in either left or right directions.

Clean the fuel filter – it might be clogged up with gunk if the mower is more than two years old. You can wipe any dirt or debris off and then spray the filter with a cleaning product, or you can replace the fuel filter completely. Some people understandably get put off petrol machines because they require more to be done prior to starting than electric tools. There’s no limit on how long mains-powered strimmers can be used for – it doesn’t have a battery to run down and won’t need refuelling. Of course, the motor may need a bit of time to cool down during extended use. Most petrol will begin to go stale after 30 days, but with a petrol stabiliser used, the fuel should last in storage for two years or even longer. As a result, this leaf blower is slightly more expensive than most blowers with a two-stroke engine. However, there are a number of advantages to this 4-stroke engine design. Vibration levels are low on the Stihl, and I think this is due n large part to the high-quality materials used in its construction, coupled with some top-notch engineering. Everything on this product just lets you know that it is part of something better than the average, and I have to admit that it’s a nice feeling. Assembly is straight forward enough, but again, the instructions could have been a bit better. I think it’s very straightforward so they half expect you to know what to do. I’d suggest looking for videos and such online to help if you’re not sure, there are plenty of instructions online, it is honestly pretty easy to sort out.

For safety, you should keep the petrol in a well-ventilated area far away from your dwelling. Petrol should also be kept away from any potential ignition triggers such as sparks and electronic equipment. A garage or shed is a good place to store petrol for most people. Power: 2-stroke engines often produce more power, although this also depends on the size of the engine. The Hyundai HYB5200 has about double the engine capacity of the Stihl leaf blower we just looked at, at about half the price. Specification: Warranty: yes (1 year) , 2 or 4 stroke: 2 stroke , Engine power: 0.9 KW / 1.2 HP , Weight: 7 kgThe 2 stroke engine is easy to start, powerful and not too noisy, it hardly ever gets bogged down because of the power. The build quality of this petrol strimmer / brush cutter is surprisingly good for something priced so low. Everything feels strong and well-made and should last a while as long as it is not abused. Unlike all of the other leaf blowers we’ve looked at so far, this Makita leaf blower has a 4-stroke petrol engine.

An anti-vibration system makes it comfortable for longer without getting tired, and the handle rotates to multiple angles to enable easy trimming at all positions. Pros: Remember that larger engines often result in a heavier unit. So, to control a powerful strimmer with a 52 cc engine you need to be quite confident in your physical ability. Starting a Petrol Strimmer In 1884, Otto's company, then known as Gasmotorenfabrik Deutz (GFD), developed electric ignition and the carburetor. In 1890, Daimler and Maybach formed a company known as Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. Today, that company is Daimler-Benz.

There are three main types of strimmer: petrol, mains-powered and battery-powered. Each has its pros and cons, and there are certain jobs which will likely better suit one type than the other. Here we’ll take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of each type: Battery-Powered Strimmers Fuel efficiency: generally, both types of motors have about the same level of fuel efficiency. However, 4-stroke motors are sometimes slightly more fuel efficient. Petrol hedge trimmer blades do the cutting and the bulk of the hard work, therefore, you must select a hedge trimmer with the trimmer blades best suited for the hedges you will be trimming.

The Mcculoch HT 5622 has standard steel blades with a dual actual cutting blade motion. The length of the blade is 56cm with a cutting gap of 22mm, although cutting branches with a maximum diameter of 19mm is recommended. Considering that petrol strimmers can be very powerful machines, it’s worth doing a bit of research before getting one, to make sure it’s the best petrol strimmer for you, your garden, and your lifestyle. The engine that powers the BU-KO petrol strimmer / multi-tool is a meaty 52cc, 2 stroke machine that starts easily and produces 3 HP. This should see you have no problems with any of the tasks that you wish to use the multi-tool for, be it cutting, pruning or hedge trimming. The fuel tank has a capacity of 1200ml.

Firstly, despite the power of its engine, the BHX2501 is relatively quiet, and doesn’t require a fuel and oil blend. You can add petrol and oil separately, with no need to mix them together before fueling the motor. On an aesthetic note, the finishes, such as the buttons, components and strimmer head, may be a bit crude in comparison to more premium models, but the general consensus seems to be that this doesn’t affect the running of the strimmer itself and it still offers good value. a b c d "125 Jahre Viertaktmotor"[125 Years of the Four Stroke Engine]. Oldtimer Club Nicolaus August Otto e.V. (in German). Germany. 2009. Archived from the original on 7 May 2011. As with most things, this robustness comes at a price and the price is an increase in weight when compared to plastic only models. Don’t let that put you off, it’s light enough for almost all to handle. With a bit of adjustment, the harness that comes with the strimmer helps to make the machine feel lighter than its 9.15kg. The handlebar design helps to keep the weight load spread out evenly too. The Stanley STR-750A petrol strimmer has a lot of features that I really liked, and unfortunately one or two that I wasn’t so crazy about.
