About this deal

I remember running up the gwli - the walled garden path, into the house, which I hated as my sister would run on ahead. I have absolutely no memories of that house but I clearly remember the day we left. Sally and I were taking our toys down to Bethania Street and she had walked on ahead of me, standing in front of the building on the corner, which used to be a pub (?), it had an arched entrance into a courtyard. She was very tanned so it was summer, and I was standing on the corner by our wall. "Wait for me" I said, "Come on, we've got a long way to go" she replied - that was my only memory of Ivy House. Funny really, how could I forget living with all those family members in a big house? I am looking for any information on the McCann family who lived in the Maesteg area I also believe that they were associated with the Port Talbot area. I am interested in the period 1895-1920. Maesteg had to survive a 20-minute battering by Neath but held on to carve their niche in rugby history. There is a lot of deprivation. There are some people on the estate who struggle to buy basic things like food which is really challenging. It's also so far out it's difficult for people to get to us if they don't drive, which is hard for people living here because they can't afford to pay for a taxi. There's no bus service that comes all the way up here - and the roads would need to be a lot wider if they did. My great great gran was Annie Price born 1868, she was a single woman living with her parents James and Mary/Margaret in Maesteg when her son Percy was born in 1889. Annie was born in Cowbridge, but lived in Maesteg most of her life. Her siblings were Henry, Daniel, Edward and Margaret. Daniel married Ellen Roach from Tredegar.

I was born in Ivy House - first on the right in Talbot Terrace. My sister Sally now lives in the same street. I don't remember much before four and half years of age. I lived in that house with my grandfather, Demetrie Cambettie the 'hire and fire man' for all the mines in the Llynfi valley, my grandmother, Blodwen. My auntie Eurex and her five kids, Mair, Elfed, Gareth, Beti and Huw, my father Hector, mother Nansi and two siblings at the time, Philip and Sally.

The Welsh-language author and Welsh-medium education campaigner Norah Isaac was born and raised in Caerau. She was described as 'the most influential individual in the history of Welsh-medium education' by Iolo Wyn Williams in his book Our Children's Language: The Welsh-Medium Schools of Wales, 1939-2000. Wales' first ever Welsh-language nursery was opened in Maesteg in 1949. looking for anyone related to the James family especiall Lily .... she haf two children Sylvia and roy. would like to know anything about their fsther who is my great grandfather .
