About this deal

Goes beyond leg workouts. Like I mention above, the Monkey Feet are great for abdominal work, too. It doesn’t take too much thinking to figure out all the ways to take advantage of this funky little product. AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet could be the solution for you if you’ve been working out in your home gym and aren’t seeing the muscle growthyou’d like in your legs and glutes. This unique attachment clamps onto any dumbbell handle at least five inches wide and allows you to perform isolated lower-body exercises you can’t do with barbells or dumbbells alone. Traditionally this movement would work only the grounded leg, but with the MonkeyFeet you’re working both legs at the same time for a far more effective workout. If you’d got particularly big feet/shoes, going barefoot might actually be easier to get your foot secured into the device.

It fits shoe sizes up to a men’s size 14, so even lifters with a larger-than-average shoe size can use it. At first they took the fitness world by storm, though nowadays there’s many other similar products that I feel do a far superior job.But it is really nice knowing you can go super heavy on leg extensions, weighted chin ups, or hanging leg raises with these. What Dumbbells Work With MonkeyFeet? Despite the way our species evolved away from climbing trees to walking on flat ground, some people are still walking around with monkey-like feet. In fact, you may be surprised to learn that about eight percent of the population, or 1 in 13 humans, may have a midtarsal break in their foot characteristic of non-human primates. These are also referred to as prehensile feet. What is a Midtarsal Break? Home gym owners who don’t have the space or budget for cable, leg extension, or hamstring curl machines will enjoy using AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet to hit quad movements, glute exercises, and hamstring exercisesin ways you can’t target with barbellsor dumbbells. A midtarsal break, also known as floppy feet, tend to occur in people with flatter feet and higher body mass indexes than people with stiffer feet. They also tend to roll their feet more, causing a motion called hyperpronation (they land on the outside of their feet and roll dramatically inward). This allows for the foot to relax its joints and ligaments, creating a midtarsal break. What are Prehensile Feet?

If you wanted to do really heavy hanging knee raises, there’s actually no better way than to strap weights to your feet! Being able to save space and money is of high-priority for many home gym owners. Enter MonkeyFeet. MonkeyFeet, developed by Animalhouse Fitness, is a patented, ratchet-based shoe attachment designed to securely hold a standard dumbbell weighing up to 160 pounds. This unique design is the only method to-date that allows athletes to lift dumbbells with their feet just as they would with their hands. In doing so, it opens the door to dozens of leg and core training movements usually reserved for machines. At first I was a little confused how they would be beneficial but once I used them, boy could I feel it! One AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet attachment weighs a mere 1.2 pounds. While we don’t know its exact dimensions, you can rest assured that it’s pretty compact when not loaded with a dumbbell. For reference, we’d say it’s about the same size as a woman’s ankle boot. Materials The Monkey Feet should fit most shoe sizes. I am 11.5 men’s US and it fits perfectly. You just have to adjust it to the right comfort. Also, these are not sold in pairs – just a single monkey foot.

This sort of pronation/supination of the leg is going to absolutely light your thighs up and you can bet your ass it’s going to hurt in the morning! Before MonkeyFeet came along, you’d have to use an ankle attachment with a cable pully machine to get an equivalent stimulus – and so it was virtually impossible to isolate the hip flexors from home. The leg extension isolation movement is virtually impossible to replicate without being at a gym with a proper leg extension machine. This makes it ideal particularly for patella tendonitis sufferers who need to get regular VMO work in to drive synovial fluid into the knee joint. I bought this product in February and it gets light use in my home gym with low weight (~15lbs). At ~4 months the heel pad started tearing. In the last month the tear is getting larger.

Cool side note… the biggest biomechanical difference between elite sprinters and regular human beings is their hip extensor muscles. You only need one. Obviously, two would be ideal for a few of the exercises I’ve mentioned (and maybe some I haven’t). But really, you just need one Monkey Foot to get by for the most part. Just switch shoes between sides. If you are using a solid box, you’ll need to prop your leg up with something so that it’s not touching the front of the box when it’s in a fully relaxed position. Prehensile feet are lower limbs that possess prehensility(the ability to grasp like a hand). They are most commonly observed in monkeys. Due to the development of bipedalism in humans, the hands became the focus of prehensility and the feet adjusted to more of a stabilizing role. It may be possible, however, that the foot does not reach its limits of dexterity due to the constant muscle tension needed in stabilizing and balancing the foot to hold up the legs and the rest of the frame. It’s generally not enough of a difference to change how you walk, say researchers. But it probably wouldn’t hurt to try your hand feet at tree-climbing. Tis the season, after all. Individuals who don’t do a lot of traditional strength training won’t have much use for an AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet attachment. This product isn’t the same as an ankle weightyou can wear for walkingor running and isn’t designed for high-impact, dynamicworkouts. If you’ve been following the ATG training methodology, or simply have an interest in sports performance, chances are you’ve heard of MonkeyFeet.
