About this deal

There is plenty of adventure in the desert hikes as their former NFL player guide sets them on extra challenges in addition to the miles of walking. Not every camper wants to be there, and some of the bullying dynamics of middle school reappear here as well. But the harsh beauty of the desert allows them to take a closer look at their lives and find out what is truly important. Told in alternating chapters between Audrey and Aaron, this book has a great mix of outdoor survival and internal struggles. Highly recommended for grades 4-8. Along the way, they also learn the value of their skills, and how to utilize those skills to in a way that help them connect with those around them. E.g. Rather than judge others for lying, Audrey - through the help of her new friends - learns that people may actually lie for a reason, and some kindness and understanding can help better understand those motives. The story follows two main characters, Audrey and Aaron. Both are unique with "superpower" abilities that they struggle with on a daily basis. For Audrey - it's her ability to know when someone is lying. For Aaron; it's the ability to remember everything he hears, sees and reads. At first glance, it seems that these wouldn't be such HORRIBLE abilities, right? However, for these two that just is NOT the case.

Children will marvel at everything the universe has created for us, from Vulpecula (The Little Fox), to Lepus (The Hare), a very special constellation just south of the equator, that can miraculously be seen from the northern hemisphere in winter. Audrey Alcott doesn't have any friends. She gave up on them long ago when everybody started lying. Why? Well, Audrey is a walking Lie detector. She can detect any kind of lies: white lies, half-truths, on-the-spot ones, carefully planned ones, etc. I really loved Connect the Stars and it was a beautiful book to read. It was fluffy and adorable, but not too much. It was super fun and super long, but really enjoyable for any age group. At the beginning of the book, Audrey has an air of sadness around her. Her personality didn't register with me and I didn't like her much. She seemed stand-offish and I didn't blame her classmates for not liking her either.Author Deborah Stevenson’s newest book literally reaches for the stars as she brings constellations to life in the beautifully illustrated and engaging book Connecting the Stars. In a time where we all need to be reminded that we are one world, this truly remarkable book journeys through the special constellations in both the northern and southern hemisphere sky, providing a poetic look into their broader meaning.

Did anyone realize you could connect Michael Jordan and LeBron James through their filmographies using only one other actor? And that that actor is Danny DeVito??? I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started reading Connect the Stars. The idea of a summer adventure story sounded fantastic, as did the idea of two teens learning important life lessons from the wilderness around them. After various difficulties in their separate schools, Audrey’s and Aaron’s parents enroll them in a desert wilderness camp for 13- and 14-year-olds, where they hike a 200-mile route known as the Journey to Confidence. The other members of the group include the very sad Kate, Louis, who is hypersensitive to stimulation, and Daphne, who is furious at everyone, especially her mother. In fits and starts, the two peculiar protagonists develop an improbable yet believable trust, which in turn gives them a kind of synergistic problem-solving agency. The premise—a pair of oddballs help each other approach normal—is beyond tried and true, yet the authors deliver it with enough permutations to keep it fresh. Specifically, the mix of other troubled kids adds complexity, and the harsh desert landscape conveys wonder and majesty. There are some credibility problems; Audrey’s gift is hard to buy, as is the group leader’s judgment, and although the authors wring a goodly amount of pathos out of Aaron’s character, his hyperfactual Asperger-like personality mix is very familiar. Aaron and Audrey don't go to the same school, nor do they know each other outside of school, but their lives are going to change over the summer, when both of their sets of parents decide to send them to the same wilderness camp, they are placed in the same group of campers who have to learn how to survive using just their brains and wits - 6 weeks away from all electronic devices, under the "leadership" of a former football player, with a chip on his shoulder. LA: Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade level topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.STAR (Share, Talk & Remember) is a Bereavement Peer Support Group, which provides free support for people grieving from a bereavement or difficult transition in their life. The aim of the support group is to create a safe space for people to receive support, listen to and share stories & experiences with others who have experienced loss in their life. She said, her voice flatter than ever, "What's the point of holding on to stuff when it all just goes away in the end anyway? I don't have anything. Unless you count the same reason I get out of bed every morning: why not? Like, I know what it's like to be alive, and I don't know what it's like to be dead, so why not just go with what I know?" In March 2020, I found out that Letterboxd uses a free API called The Movie Database for all their movie data. The API provides everything you would need to make a movie app, and to this day I am astounded that it is free. o be honest, I love books like Connect the Stars. I love reading books about kids who aren't so perfect and I love seeing the challenges that they have to face. I don't really know why, but books like these remind me of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Girls Play, a Twitch stream with 71K followers, played Connect the Stars one day (skip to 55:25). They ended up playing for almost 2 hours! A successful juvenile by the beloved New Yorker writer portrays a farm episode with an imaginative twist that makes a poignant, humorous story of a pig, a spider and a little girl. And so, Amanda and I made a movie trivia game called Connect the Stars! If you enjoy answering “What movies was she in?” and “Who was in that movie again?”, you’ll like this game. Connect the Stars is best enjoyed with a group of friends, or challenge yourself by playing solo if you’re a big movie buff. Try it out: connectthestars.xyz Amanda and I were just about ready to share the game with others, but we recognized that playing the game was asking for a lot of people’s time, and reaching a point where you “get” the game might never happen. For those people, we thought we could still share the game with them in the form a Let’s Play video. Amanda used OBS, the software that Twitch streamers use, to set up a recording of her game and our Zoom call, and we would play a bunch of games to show how the game works. It was fun to make, despite frustrating technical issues, and Amanda did a great job of putting together the video! The uppermost horn of Taurus is part of a pentagon of stars that includes the bright golden-yellow star Capella. This pentagon is the constellation Auriga the Charioteer. Auriga lies above Orion and is overhead on a midwinter evening. The fact that these five stars represent a man on a chariot carrying a goat (Capella) attests to the vivid imagination of its ancient discoverers. Oh yes, that little triangle of stars beneath Capella represents the goat’s three kids! Aaron had a very interesting personality. Unlike Audrey, he wasn't standoffish. He didn't have friends because. . .when you're spouting out information like a pressure cooker, people are bound to think you're weird. And when you don't know what to say, you cannot make friends just like that. People think your memory is cool, not you. Students investigate a well-known myth What constellation is referenced in the story? How does the constellation connect with the story? Encourage students to write an original story about a constellation. What does your myth explain about the world? Are there any gods referenced in your story? If so, who? What is his or her position in mythology? Hoshi wo Tsunagu ( 星を繋ぐ, Connecting the Stars) is a commissioned song by 40mP and Hifumi. It is Hoshino Ichika's fourth focus song and was written for the Connected by Our Stellar Song event. I’ve watched 117 films so far in 2020. There’s something about how young the medium of a feature film is — they’ve only been around for a bit more than a century! — that fools people like me into thinking it’s possible to watch every single great movie ever made. I wanted to create something for myself and others like me who watch way too many movies. Something to show off all the useless trivia we accumulate about movies and the people in them.
