About this deal

Somehow I bought this fantastic album back around 2010, opened it up and looked at the pretty art, but then didn't get around to listening to it until today. The 50th anniversary reissue comes in either vinyl or CD box set form, with both including two DVDs. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

For my wife to mention this album sounds more realistic says something, she never comments even after major upgrades to the system. This should be amazing as it captures the making of the album from start to finish and was directed by Neil Young and his film crew in 1971. The film Harvest Time is a previously unseen 2-hour documentary filmed in 1971, documenting the Harvest sessions. My RSD copy has been sitting on a shelf as I just couldn't take the sibilance/distortion on Unknown Legend and a few other spots, but I upgraded my stylus from the Ortofon 2m Red to Blue and it is so much better. All songs ©1971 Silver Fiddle Music (ASCAP), except "A Man Needs a Maid,""Old Man" and "The Needle and the Damage Done" ©1971 Broken Fiddle Music (ASCAP).In terms of bonus audio, Young’s much-bootlegged February 23 BBC In Concert is included on CD and vinyl in the respective packages and three Harvest outtakes are also made available in physical form for the first time. Harvest Outtakes is a small hole 7" issued in a shrink wrapped matte picture sleeve with top opening. Fans of the record will receive a new glimpse into Harvest through the two DVDs included in the box set.

Both sets come with a poster and a hardcover book which includes never-before-seen photos along with extensive sleeve notes by photographer Joel Bernstein. Only issue is that since this album was recorded to digital it does have that slight tint of digital. Neil Young’s most popular album, 1972’s Harvest, will be reissued for its 50th anniversary in December. Also included are three unreleased tracks from the original Harvest sessions: “Bad Fog of Loneliness,”“Journey Through The Past,” and “Dance Dance Dance.

my copy has terrible split pretty much the entirety of the top and bottom of the jacket, but other than that, is absolutely perfect, let it be a little noise. Recorded with newly assembled band The Stray Gators, Young’s fourth solo album features classic songs such as ‘Heart of Gold’, ‘Old Man’ and ‘The Needle and The Damage Done’ and topped the albums charts around the world upon release in early 1972. Additionally, the hardbound book will include never-before-seen photos along with extensive liner notes by photographer Joel Bernstein. The 50th Anniversary Edition Box Sets will be released December 2, 2022 on Vinyl and CD, boasting the original album, three studio outtakes on CD/7” vinyl, an unreleased live 1971 BBC solo performance on CD, LP and DVD. In the spring of 2023, a DVD replacement program was announced and a replacement DVD with corrected audio was released by mail to consumers providing proof of purchase.

In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases. Harvest is housed in a Stoughton tip-on jacket which has a matte texture on the outside and a high-gloss finish on the inside.Knowing the higher quality of many/most of Neil's other recent reissues, I can only assume that this recording only ever existed in digital form at origin and, thus, not much can be done to improve it.

The first is Harvest Time, an unreleased two-hour film shot during the making of Harvest, with footage from Young’s ‘Harvest Barn’ sessions in Northern California, recording sessions in Nashville and London.

Maggie May" performed by Rod Stewart courtesy of Island Records under license from Universal Music Enterprises Published by EMI Blackwood Music Inc. Been listening to the CD of this since it came out 25+ years ago, the album definitely sounds better even if digital. Young’s fourth solo album remains one of the most beloved in his catalog and is dense with songs that have long-permeated radio waves. We are working on a plan with Reprise for those of you who feel the BBC DVD has a problem and we will let you know when we have something to offer you and a good method. Pressing quality and mastering are excellent; even though this was probably cut from digital, it sounds much better than the CD version I have.
