Fantastic Beasts: The Wonder of Nature, the catalogue from an exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London, is a lovely spin-off from Fantastic Beasts. These are relatively large books with plenty of colour illustrations, available both in hardcover and paperback. We will miss collaborating with Jim enormously, but he will always have a very special place in our Harry Potter family of unparalleled illustration talent. Now an exciting new collaboration brings together two virtuoso artistic talents, as Kate Greenaway Medal winner Jim Kay is joined by acclaimed guest illustrator Neil Packer, winner of the 2021 BolognaRagazzi Award for non-fiction.
That being said I have to be honest and say I still miss more of the pages with background illustrations and theming illustrations we saw in the first 3 books. Maas, and illustrators such as Chris Riddell, Emily Gravett, Rikin Parekh, Kate Pankhurst, Jim Kay and Tom Percival.

Both books are themed around the curriculum at Hogwarts, such as potions, herbology, astronomy, divination and defence against the dark arts. For example, the pages for chapters taking place in a forest are green, those with Umbridge are often pink, those with Death Eaters transition from black, dark green, purple and red. Her latest children’s novel The Christmas Pig, a standalone adventure story about a boy’s love for his most treasured thing and how far he will go to find it, is out now.
