About this deal

Pretty, and the discovery, should not have been buried under all of the other stories that had nothing to do with the discovery. His latest book Fall: The Mystery of Robert Maxwell was published to great acclaim in February 2021.

While the ensemble cast is highly competent, I don't see a particular supporting role having enough "spotlight momentum" to break-out and win an Oscar, although Lily James (Peggy Piggott) is a long-shot. Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes are both superb, many other top notch performances elsewhere, always great to see Ken Stott. It has been shortlisted for both the Baillie Gifford Prize and the Costa Biography Prize and is being adapted for television by Working Title productions. But along with Phillips is the mousy scholar Stuart Piggott (Ben Chaplin), a dull fellow who is failing to satisfy his young wife Margaret (Lily James) emotionally. Jenna Coleman (78) Jennifer Lawrence (45) Jess Glynne (47) Justin Bieber (61) los santos (47) Michael Fassbender (46) Murray Gold (45) Oscar Isaac (45) Peter Capaldi (102) Reece Shearsmith (55) rockstar (46) Sam Smith (72) Samuel L.The Dig” concerns the specifics of an archaeological excavation project in 1939, a subject that doesn’t exactly scream riveting cinema. But then the grand folk from London arrive, intent on taking possession of their precious discovery: Ken Stott is on great form as the pompous British Museum archaeologist Charles Phillips, his face as fierce and red as a toby jug.

The treasure was hidden in the London Underground during the war and first exhibited—without any mention of Basil Brown—nine years after Edith's death. I think that might be the case for many other people, but the great thing about The Dig is that it's primarily a character-driven drama, and one that uses emotional intrigue to bring you closer to the story at hand and allow you to appreciate its importance. Set in the summer months of 1939 before the outbreak of war, there are sporadic references to the coming conflict through the first two acts of the movie, but they don't seem to bear much relevance to this story about an archaeological find. I think the moment that Lily James shows up is when the movie announces that this movie wants to be bigger. A film that can truly be loved by the whole family, themes that are a suitable for all, with a story and series of events I can imagine many enjoying.Ralph Fiennes plays Brown, a tough, self-reliant man of few words and an outdoor tan, who does a fair bit of pipe-filling, pipe-smoking and pipe-biting.

It stars Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, Lily James, Johnny Flynn, Ben Chaplin, Ken Stott, Archie Barnes, and Monica Dolan. Carey Mulligan gets the traditional hat-and-coat walk through the busy wartime London streets that was awarded to Gemma Arterton in Their Finest and Keira Knightley in The Imitation Game. From Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes to Ben Chaplin and Archie Barnes, the performances are all first-rate. It lacks the emotional and intellectual heft and bite to make it an unmissable, classic movie, but I would happily watch it again, and again. For example, after couple Stuart ( Ben Chaplin) and Peggy Piggott ( Lily James, Rebecca) turn up to join in, Johnny Flynn, as Edith’s cousin, Rory, seems to have little to do other than take photos of the ship, and try and crack on to Peggy.Peggy was not an inexperienced sweet young thing who was chosen because she was small and petite,” he said. Basil Brown did everything right and it is fantastic he is at last getting the credit he deserved and that Edith Pretty wanted for him. If there was one weak point in the film, it would be the digression to the character Peggy that seems to be thinly integrated into the film. The Dig is a 2021 British drama film directed by Simon Stone, based on the 2007 novel of the same name by John Preston, which reimagines the events of the 1939 excavation of Sutton Hoo in Suffolk, England. If you love simple stories being told in a beautiful and clear manner, and if you like Archaeology, then this is the film for you.
